The Staika 2 Person Tent by Hilleberg. Because of its Kerlon 1800 outer tent material, 10 mm poles and completely free standing design, the Staika excels on any journey where absolute strength is the highest priority, and where terrain could create difficult pitching conditions. Easy to pitch and fully able to handle heavy snow loading, the Staika will serve admirably in both exposed and/or above tree line and protected terrain, year 'round, in any and all weather conditions. And thanks to its spacious two door/two vestibule design and excellent static strength, it makes a superb base camp tent, where users will leave the tent unattended for extended periods of time.

The Staika is all about simple - but simple does not by any means equate to "sparse." Easy to pitch, immensely stable, remarkably spacious, and quite light, the Staika is an excellent "go to" tent for any use where sturdy strength is the high priority. Hilleberg originally designed the Staika for paddle tourers, who wanted a highly stable, fully free standing tent for handling tricky pitching conditions. Since then, it has garnered a large, loyal following amongst a wide assortment of other adventurers: mountaineers, polar travelers, and ski tourers find it a supremely stable base camp tent in all conditions; bicycle tourers love its simplicity and completely free standing construction; and even regular backpackers find great comfort in its roominess and relatively light weight as well as in its strength and stability.

FEATURES of the Hilleberg Staika 2 Person Tent

  • Outer tent fabric is Kerlon 1800 and the poles are 10 mm, which makes the tent very strong and stable
  • Offers all season construction tent wall that can be extended to ground and mesh area and are backed with adjustable fabric panel
  • Dome construction with multiple crossing poles points provide excellent stability for snow-load handling capability
  • Designed ideally for two people

  • Free standing dome design requires no pegs for pitching. This tent contains poles system that makes for quick and easy set up.

  • The outer or inner tents can be used separately. For pitching the inner tent alone it requires optional pole holders.
  • Will handle any terrain or weather condition with ease, comfort, and simplicity
  • Ideal for all season and long term use, even in the harshest of environments from anywhere to open terrain to deserts and heavy snow locations
  • Designed to be incredibly durable, so you're more focused on your adventure rather than the fragility of your tent
  • Made with heavier duty zippers, the strongest pegs Hilleberg offers, and the most durable inner tent and floor fabrics. The Hercules of tents.

Hilleberg Black Label Tents

Hilleberg Black Label Tents
Hilleberg's most versatile tents, Black Label models will handle any terrain or weather condition, from the mildest to the most demanding. Their simplicity, ease of use, and comfort make them perfect not only for any trip in any season, but also for general use in less challenging situations, and for less experienced users. Their strength, stability, and roominess, meanwhile, make them the best choice for long term, demanding, all season use in the harshest conditions – exposed and/or above tree line terrain, continuous heavy snow conditions, high-grit environments like deserts, beaches, and playas, and the like. Their extra durability increases longevity, and reduces the risk of problems, especially on longer adventures in remote areas, where repair opportunities may be limited.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excelent quality build I have been “shopping” for a tent for a bit and I am happy with my choice. My usual mode of travel with motorcycle so weight is not as much a factor or general bulk of the package although that was a consideration. I tend to like room and I was pleased when I set this up with the useable volume: a palace for one and will work for two with no issues. Set up is a straightforward process and I really like the exoskeleton build as I seem to be setting up in the rain more than I care too but with this system it’ll be dry inside when completed. Purchased the footprint as I always do and covering the open vestibule area will be a plus. Very well build and that was a big consideration as I have seen tents fail in storms and I don’t anticipate that with this shelter. Too me the cost was entirely worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Tent I recently bought this tent for adventure touring on my Ducati Multistrada. Very pleased with the attention to detail. neighbors at camp site commented on the tent..."wow that tent is tight", 30 mph wind gusts were flapping other tents like a flag, not this one. And it wasn't hard to get set up in that environment. Last thing I want is to be cursing at my shelter after a long days ride.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything expected, and a little bit more! Impressive performance. This was my first purchase in support of bikepacking- accavities in my Bob trailer… It's a little larger than some of the other models but the ease of set up quality of the poles and the quality of the tent fabric give me 100% confidence to go anywhere I want to go. I Purchased the ground sheet - I recommend it s it providesttwo storage areas in the vestuables... everything's under cover and accessible and dry! Heavy duty "black label" features - guy ropes, tent pegs, pole diameter is all really solid. Purchased in September I've had 10 nights so far - 60 to 32 degrees and the air flow was exceptional - great flexibility with the two door design. As winter approaches... looking to start winter camping with this tent - free standing, and assembly can be done with mitts! :) Ps I spoke to Custer service - very helpful/cheerful... icing on the cake - a little expensive, but well worth the investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tent I have used my Staika for 12 year for bike touring and car camping mostly. It's like the Hilleberg Hilton. Stayed dry in rainstorms and love the smart venting and everything hooking together. I have the footprint, inner, outer tent pitched in less than 10 minutes and tons of space for all the gear in the vestibules. Does not fit the bikes, which is probably the only gripe I can have. Otherwise a perfect tent. Also, super easy to move, just un-stake it, lift it up and move it. I do that all the time when ground is not good in the first spot. 6 Star tent in my opinion! Best there is!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Reference Standard for Tents At a tick over albs packed, it's a commitment to carry this pack-even for 2 people. However, it's the most realistic insurance policy one can carry in the wilds and when considering that, it's not that heavy. My primary haunts are alone the shores of Lake Ontario and into the Adirondacks. Lake effect snowstorms here are generally measured by the foot and it's all too often that heavy, wet, 30º-sh degree snow that can collapse very good tents in short order. The Staika is the type of tent that can handle these snow loads with total competence and minimal fuss. It handles winds with equal skill and is built well enough to handle the abuse tents often see with small children around during family trips. I think it's the ultimate all-rounder and while it's an investment, it pays for itself easily by giving the user many years of high-end performance. Some complain about certain areas not being seam-sealed at the factory: this is a user-level responsibility and an optional one, as well. Regardless, I did not seam seal mine for it's first year and am yet to have any moisture make it's way inside. Site selection does a lot to handle this anyway. If you're mountaineering or requiring a task-specific shelter at a lower weight, look at the Jannu. Outside of that, I think this is the ultimate shelter for all-season use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dome Fortress Utilized in SE AK a few times late fall in mostly rain and a light dusting of snow. As advertised waterproof tub and impermeable outer shell. Set up is straightforward and can be easily accomplished in the dark with headlamp. Good space for two and even better vestibule space for gear. A palace for one. Tent can be compressed to fit in a smaller bag than it comes in. In my opinion 8lbs is heavy for a 2 person tent but worth the peace of mind if the weather should turn ugly. Prefer dome style tent vice having to point the tent into the wind. Excellent product.
