Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is a pity Helly uses cheap zippers that jam. Helly makes wonderful rain jackets. I live in the pacific northwet as we say and it is perfect for the winters here. I wear a wool shirt, a fleece, and this jacket and am very comfortably equipped for walking about town. It is helly-tech which means breathable and waterproof. And the mesh lining inside keeps the fabric from my skin and adds just a bit more insulation. The only drawback is that Helly uses a cheap zipper which jams all the time. That is vexing as if I am not extremely careful it will jam and take 5 minutes to unjam. Apart from that it is perfect. I adore the color.

Does the mesh lining continue down the sleeves to keep the outer surface off direct skin contact when wearing t-shirts? If not can you direct me to a rain jacket that does? I want this for wilderness canoe tripping in all kinds of weather. Thanks.

Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! I actually pulled one of these from our warehouse so I could check out exactly what's going on with the inside of this jacket! So, the mesh lining does not continue down the sleeve. It will essentially cover a "vest" area on the inside of the jacket. However, for the sleeves, a new lining is used, so you don't have direct contact with the outer surface layer. Hope this helps you out!

Does the storm flap close via snaps or velcro?

what is the difference between this and the Helly Hansen Voss jacket?

Thanks for the question! While they are both classic rain jackets, the Seven J was designed for outdoor activities. It has a storm flap, 2-ply fabric construction, and a quick-dry lining. I hope this helps!
