Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice backpack, poor design/quality pieces My mom has an earlier version of this backpack, almost 10 years old. I've stolen it several times over the years because of its size, ease of use and practicality when traveling with small children or even without kids. Last Christmas, she bought me this one so I'd stop stealing hers. It's very similar, however it is slightly smaller, has fewer pockets and the zigzag bungee is poorly designed, it broke on my second trip with this bag. My mom's bungee? Works perfect. Why? It's properly designed and made with higher quality materials. My mom's bungee line is secured with fabric loops solidly sewn into the pack, and the tightener is a separate, higher quality plastic piece that has one job and does it well. The tightener on this pack is also an anchor for the bungee line and the plastic is too thin & cheap to withstand both jobs at once. It's a design flaw that is exacerbated by the poor quality material. The smaller size and fewer pockets aren't as big a deal to me as I wanted a pack in this size without a water reservoir and this is one. I could get purple, so it has a little more personality but not too girly that my husband and boys won't hold it. But one key function of this pack for me was a place to hold my youngest's sweatshirt when he doesn't want to carry it and starts whining. And it couldn't handle that.

Does this pack come with a hydration sleve or does that need to be purchased seperately?

Asked by: Robin
Thanks for the question! Unfortunately, the Maya 5L Pack does NOT come with a hydration sleeve. You could put a bladder inside, but there will be no hook for it to hang from and there also will not be a hole to feed the tubing thru. This does not mean it isn't possible, tho. You could manufacture your own hanging clip and leave a gap in between the zipper for the tube. I hope this helps a little!

- + Size Guide

Gregory Women's Packs

Gregory backpacking packs are available in a size range. Please check the PRODUCT FEATURES and / or SPECIFICATIONS for the torso range measurements of each size of a pack. The steps below are a guide for measuring your torso size.

The hipbelts on Gregory backpacking packs are adjustable to fit a range of sizes. A simple rule of thumb is that the ideal distance between the ends of the hipbelt pads after tightening should be 3 to 5 inches. However, the most important criteria are that the hipbelt wraps clear over the side of your body and that it rests 1 inch above your iliac crest. This allows proper load transfer to your skeletal structure, which maximizes comfort and minimizes energy expenditure.

HOW to MEASURE TORSO SIZE
1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.
