Rated 4 out of 5 by from Theme Parks with Salvo 18L We took this bag to Orlando theme parks for a week. We chose it for the suspension system across the back, and the bag never felt hot on our backs. The water bottles stayed very nicely in the stretchy side mesh pockets. I could even get two in the same pocket on each side if needed. We usually carried an insulated metal bottle in one side and a fan in the other. We looped the little strap through the top of the fan for extra security. We love the color-- it made it easy to spot my husband (who did most of the carrying). It is a red-orange with orange accents and some gray. We liked the pocket that is easily accessible from the outside and lined for sunglasses and cell phones. We used the inside zipper pocket for wallets and pens. We fit a full sized hardback character book in the pocket where the bladder is supposed to go. We were also able to fit a change of clothes for a two year old, two children's hoodies, and one mommy zip up shirt, a small first aid kit, and a mid sized camera in the large pocket. We even used the stretchy cord on the outside to secure a light up bubble wand to the outside of the bag. The two downsides we found with this bag were that because of the location of the two smaller pockets (inside and outside at the top of the bag) it was difficult to get items in an out of the main compartment of the bag. The bulk of our storage was at the bottom of the bag and required the removal of things above in order to get out a hoodie or change of clothes from the bottom. At every park security check we had to empty and re-pack the bag because the security couldn't see down to the bottom of the bag easily. The unpacking was difficult due to the shape of the opening. I must say that nothing ever spilled out of the bag when it was unzipped and I was digging around in it though! Also, I would have liked one more pocket to be accessible from the outside. I saw that the newer version (or maybe larger version) of this bag has a mesh pocket across the front of the bag. The bag still shows no wear after 12 days of heavy use by a family of 4.

- + Size Guide

Gregory Men's Packs

Gregory backpacking packs are available in a size range. Please check the PRODUCT FEATURES and / or SPECIFICATIONS for the torso range measurements of each size of a pack. The steps below are a guide for measuring your torso size.

The hipbelts on Gregory backpacking packs are adjustable to fit a range of sizes. A simple rule of thumb is that the ideal distance between the ends of the hipbelt pads after tightening should be 3 to 5 inches. However, the most important criteria are that the hipbelt wraps clear over the side of your body and that it rests 1 inch above your iliac crest. This allows proper load transfer to your skeletal structure, which maximizes comfort and minimizes energy expenditure.

1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.
