Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality - Mesh Part of front of bag ripped after 2 uses Used it for a backpacking trip. Mesh are in the front of the bag ripped and created a hole. We are very disappointed as we thought this bag would be more durable. Would not advice this bag for anyone who is planning to go backpacking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great Lightweight option. I have used and love the Baltoro 65L pack for over 6 years and over 5000 miles. I will continue to use the Baltoro for my longer backpacking trips and thru-hikes. But, I tried the Paragon 58 in the summer of 2017 and love it for my smaller trips. I used it for a 4-day 50 mile hike across Isle Royal National Park, a multi-day trip at Channel Islands National Park and overnight trips in New Mexico and Colorado. A much lighter option at 3.9lbs than the Baltoro for these shorter trips. I love the new ventilation system that allows better air flow and prevents a sweet back. It fits like a glove and has easy access to your gear with ample pockets.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pack I recently thru hiked the Tahoe Rim Trail. I've had a Baltoro 75L for a few years, but decided I wanted to reduce my kit size a bit, including my pack, in order to get more miles under my feet every day. My kit (including food) is about 40 lbs. so not super light, but that's when I'm solo hiking. Even with 40 lbs. this pack was killer. It sat right at the top of my butt, pushing that weight forward and down into my lower back and hips. The adjustable shoulder straps helped me have the perfect fit and never slid out of place. The sunglass holder was convenient, but I found myself forgetting they were there and setting my backpack down on them (don't recommend!). I love that if I want to I can remove the lid and make it even lighter. I love that Gregory includes a rain cover and daypack (one of my favorite things about Gregory). When synching down the straps, I noticed that seams connecting the straps to the pack were not as burley as I would like, so just be careful not to synch with all your might. Overall this pack was incredibly comfortable and very light for the features it's got. New favorite.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, versatile Took this on the coast to coast in England to be able to carry more for my dad. I loved it the whole way. The suspension and easy adjustment allows for a great feel no matter how heavy you're packing. Take it to the white mountains now for multi day trips. The storage capacity, ease of access, and rain fly all make this the best bag I've owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gregory's Paragon 58 raises the bar Gregory hits another home run with the new Paragon 58. The feature rich Paragon series of packs needs to be high on your list of potentials. I had opportunity to test and review the Gregory Paragon 58 for TheDyrt and came away impressed with the advancements. I own Gregory's Baltoro 85 and Baltoro 75 GZ (Goal Zero), which are dependable, durable, comfortable heavy--haulers. So I was looking forward to spending trail time with a lighter mid-sized Paragon pack. Lighter it is...tipping the scales at 3.9 lbs, but it feel much lighter. That's only the beginning, I could never cover all the features, so for greater details check out Gregory's website. The Paragon 58 shares the same SideKick, an internal reservoir carrier that transforms into a ultralite day/summit pack, as the Baltoro packs. The SideKick also has an outside zippered pocket for small items and dual vertical lash points the entire length of the pack. The SideWinder angled external water bottle sleeve easily fits a 32 oz water bottle. Retrieval and reinsertion of the water bottle into the SideWinder sleeve is a simple one-handed operation. The Paragon 58 uses Aerolon Suspension and Matrix Ventilation System, along with EVA foam padding to ensure total back and shoulder comfort. The use of wedge-shaped cutouts and mesh provided noticeable air circulation, even in 90 degree heat. The Hipbelt is contoured in such a way that it sits perfectly on the Iliac crest for all day support and stability and the Griptilian lumbar assists in keeping it there. This series pack, even has a dedicated pocket for the Rain cover, and is labeled as such. I believe Gregory listened to its consumers and made changes. The adjustable zippered Hipbelt pockets are finally large enough to fit today's smartphones. The left Hipbelt pocket is mesh, while the right pocket conceals its contents...though it is not the WeatherShield fabric and waterproof zipper of the Baltoro's. My iphone 7, encased in a Pelican Marine 7 waterproof case, fit in either pocket with room to spare. Bottomline, with 40 lbs of gear packed in the Paragon 58, the pack felt comfortable and snug...didn't shift or feel imbalanced. If there were ten stars, I'd have given it ten.

- + Size Guide

Gregory Men's Packs

Gregory backpacking packs are available in a size range. Please check the PRODUCT FEATURES and / or SPECIFICATIONS for the torso range measurements of each size of a pack. The steps below are a guide for measuring your torso size.

The hipbelts on Gregory backpacking packs are adjustable to fit a range of sizes. A simple rule of thumb is that the ideal distance between the ends of the hipbelt pads after tightening should be 3 to 5 inches. However, the most important criteria are that the hipbelt wraps clear over the side of your body and that it rests 1 inch above your iliac crest. This allows proper load transfer to your skeletal structure, which maximizes comfort and minimizes energy expenditure.

HOW to MEASURE TORSO SIZE
1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.
