Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic bag. Not a fan of the solar panel attachment All my camping gear easily fits in this bag just fine. Tent, sleeping bag, water, food, big camera, lenses, tripod, sleeping mat, shirt, propane burder and tank, water bottle, mess kit, all those little pieces, clothing, rain gear, ect. I don't like the location of the rain cover. It is stored in the bottom of that big front center pocket. It is difficult to access when raining since I've gotta unload that front pocket to get to it, and when it's not raining I've gotta pack it up inside the bag when the rain cover is wet. I also don't like how the solar panel is permenantly attached to the bag. If I have no need for power, I can't take it off the bag and shelf it. The solar panel isn't that light, either. That's the only reason this bag is heavier than my old bag. Granted, my old bag was eaten by attic squirrels nesting in it, so the baltoro 75 is superior. I also hate Velcrow, and the solar panel is held closed by Velcrow. Velcrow wears out and loses it's stickiness. Then the Velcrow needs to be replaced. But my bag is currently new, so I'll cross that bridge when the Velcrow wears out. The bag molds to my spine and fits so well it feels like a part of me. That suggests a good fit. Nothing moves or wiggles when I'm walking. That suggests thoughtful design and engineering. This bag makes me think they design bags and the designers themselves field test their bags before they go into production. Everything is well planned and thought out. The inside pocket for the hydration bladder is another little bag that comes out of the big pack. It has shoulder straps and everything. I thought that was cool. You can set up camp and use the little bag for exploring. I stored all my food in it so now I've got an easy access food bag for meal time instead of digging around. I like that little bag, but I need to move on. Nevermind, I hit my words limit. The little bag is also made of the thick and sturdy canvass that the baltoro pack is made of.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solar not so good pack good The top lid of pack where solar goes is a great spot for maps. THe solar panel is really not a means of charging your electronics. Pack a battery instead. Nice pack, good fit, day pack in side works great and pockets are alll well placed. The buckets are not as strong as the old Gregory packs. NIce pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can’t go wrong I’ve owned multiple Gregory packs over the years so I was never worried about spending the money and worrying about the quality. Add in the solar setup and the fact it was on sale, it’s a no brainer. We all have gadgets so having the panel and battery integrated is great.

I bought this pack for my son for a birthday gift. I'm wondering what size and shape of water reservoir he needs.

Asked by: Toadhugger2025
Hey there Toadhugger20205, I would recommend the Gregory 3D Hydro 3L Reservoir: https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Gregory-3D-Hydro-3L-Reservoir_10329306_10208_10000001_-1_ This will work in the sidekick section of the pack. Hope this helps!

- + Size Guide

Gregory Men's Packs

Gregory backpacking packs are available in a size range. Please check the PRODUCT FEATURES and / or SPECIFICATIONS for the torso range measurements of each size of a pack. The steps below are a guide for measuring your torso size.

The hipbelts on Gregory backpacking packs are adjustable to fit a range of sizes. A simple rule of thumb is that the ideal distance between the ends of the hipbelt pads after tightening should be 3 to 5 inches. However, the most important criteria are that the hipbelt wraps clear over the side of your body and that it rests 1 inch above your iliac crest. This allows proper load transfer to your skeletal structure, which maximizes comfort and minimizes energy expenditure.

HOW to MEASURE TORSO SIZE
1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.
