DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lightweight pack I took it out on my first backpack and am quite impressed. Overall, without water, my pack weighed 20 lbs. It carried very comfortably and essentially fit right out of the box. I like the fact that it has one large spacious compartment, instead of a gazillion of little ones with zippers and buckles that all add weight. The roll top is really clever, and with it being so light, it’s perfectly suited as a daypack. It really has everything you want in a backpack, and the straps are comfy. I like the pouches on the hipbelt which are great for map, compass, cellphone, camera. The material seems quite rugged and will stand up to some abuse. I have two small gripes: 1. I’m not sure how well the material of the pouches will hold up. 2. The design is a bit odd because when the pack is fully loaded, it’s hard to squeeze a waterbottle in the side pouches. Also, it is not possible to get a water bottle back in on your own without taking the pack off or having a friend held. I managed to get it out by pushing from the bottom, leaning over, and trying to catch it, but that’s less than ideal. Nevertheless, overall I think it is a very nice lightweight pack at a very reasonable cost. My friends all eyed it enviously and I think they all are considering buying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome pack! Perfect lightweight backpack with plenty of features. I really like the mesh pocket and deep side pockets. The versatility of being able to compress the pack is another great feature!

Please compare and contrast the men's vs women's Crown 2 backpack.  I am a woman with a long torso, very sensitive neck.

Asked by: Becky
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Honestly, I was hoping someone would ask this question...and I'm excited to answer it! So, for the similarities, both the men's and the women's will have 60 liters capacity (3360 cubic inches), they'll both have the dimensions of 23.5 x 13 x 8 inches, both have the torso range of 21 - 24 inches, and both will weigh the same, 39 oz. For the differences....on our site, the men's comes in highland peat/black or fatigue/dried sage. The women's just comes in fatigue/dried sage. Yeah. That's....about it. From what I'm seeing here, you'd be fine going with either one! Hope this helps you out. Hugsies!

My torso is exactly 18". Would it be better to get the short which is for 15"-18" or the regular which is for 18"-21"?

Asked by: Jennifer
Hi Jennifer, thanks for your question! If you are between torso sizes, it is better to size down. Generally backpack straps aren't as comfortable at their smallest setting. It's better to have room to expand the straps on a shorter pack. Hope this helps!
