Weighing in at just over 2 lbs, the Granite Gear Men's Crown2 60 Pack is a comfortable, lightweight option for thru-hiking and ultralight backpacking. The suspension system on this thing just may be the coolest part. The compression molded framesheet is rated for up to 35 lbs and you can remove it entirely when packing lighter loads. Paired with a molded foam back panel layered with mesh for ventilation, and the super comfortable and fully adjustable Re-Fit hip belt, this pack is one smooth ride. The removable zippered lid, side compression straps and large roll-top main compartment provided added versatility. Besides lightweight comfort and versatility, my favorite details are the simple and sensible storage capabilities. Large side pockets make water bottle grabs a breeze, and the oversized pouch on the front is perfect for stashing a wet rain fly when you need to get back on the trail.

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s the Bee’s Knees! I’ve been a backpacker for over 20 years and guided for 7 years. I’ve owned more high end packs than some small shops have in stock. several years ago, I embraced UL gear a couple years ago and haven’t looked back. I’m a bang-for-the-buck ultilitarian when it comes to gear. This pack tops the list. It carries loads up to 30 lbs. like my old Osprey Aether carried “the kitchken sink” but at less than half of the weight. It has everything you need for long distances with sub-30 lb. loads and nothing you don’t. I almost forgot I was shouldering gear. It also is customizable to meet specific needs and quite durable. This is a pack you won’t regret buying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost the ideal pack!! I purchased this pack as part of my gear upgrade to “go lighter”. Love everything about the pack with 2 minor exceptions. Water bottle side pockets take a little effort to reholster your bottle while on your back. The other is the hip pockets could be slightly larger but are very functional. This pack fits like a glove!! At 25 lbs of total gear, food and water it packs and carries superbly!! I would buy again in an instant!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent up to 30lbs I bought this pack at the start of last spring. I have since used it for roughly 40 trail days. I typically hike for 3-7 days. My base weight for 3 season hiking is 12lbs. I find that this pack carries up to 30lbs very well. I have never gone over 30lbs to see how it handles. I enjoy the layout of the exterior pockets and find them very useful. My tent fly and rain gear typically go in the large center exterior pouch along with a few other small things as required. I use tall smart water bottles and can get them in and out of the pouches with the pack on. The secret for me to getting them back in was to put them in upside down. I use the lid of the bottle to pry in past the elastic retention at the top. The hip belt pockets just fit my phone (Samsung s8+) and are of good size. I weighed the pack and the weights on the Granite Gear website are accurate. I am 6'3 240lbs (athletic build) with a 34" waist. I have a 23" back length measurement and found the long/tall version of this pack to fit me very well. I do believe that for the price this pack is hard to beat. I am happy enough, and confident enough in the bag that I will be taking it on a through hike of the GDT this year. I am not sure if the mesh outer pockets will survive much after the trip but that is the only weakness in the pack that concerns me. I would not hesitate to recommend this pack. I feel it is very well laid out and the price/weight ratio is hard to beat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really good start Awesome start for a light weight pack but need more adjustability for torso and shoulder straps. Colour is good as well it's hard to find just plain simple colours in light weight gear. I'm using this for certain military expeds. Would like to see a higher load carriage

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, yet strong and comfy! Saved 3lbs in just packweight alone. Took it on a 3 night trip in the RRG. Rubbed it on rocks, rolled it in the snow, and hung it in trees. Still fit everything I normally carried in an 85 liter pack, but it felt like a happy monkey on my back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It fits, shifts weight to my hips. My last couple packs were Golite. I liked the weight but they didn't fit right. Now I am happy! And, I love the features. The pockets are all useful and efficient. The perfect pack for through hiking, it can hold a lot if necessary.

My torso length is 21" which is the max for a regular and min for a long. What size do you recommend? What is the difference in length of the back pad on a regular and long, and will they hit is a different spot on my back?

Asked by: cbHoo
HIya cbHoo, thanks for your question! If you are between sizes, it is typically best to go with the smaller size. A pack that is too big will result in a not very stable ride and less flexibility in load-carrying. I talked to the folks over at Granite Gear who suggested you remeasure your torso size, just to make sure you're not 20.5 or 21.5 inches. If you are smack dab in the middle, at 21 inches, go with the regular size pack. Only the hipbelt is adjustable so the larger the size, the higher the pad will hit at the top of your back. Hope this helps!
