So, this pack can definitely work depending on the pole situation. I can tell you what I did on an extended trip (not this exact pack, but similar size). I had a super non lightweight tent with monstrous poles. I kept the poles on the outside in one of the nalgene / water bottle mesh pockets on the side and used the pack tightener straps to help stabilize the poles to the pack. I also keep the rainfly completely separate from the tent body and not really folded tightly. Typically my tent is at the very top of my pack and then before I shut or secure the lid, I would loosely pack the rainfly all over the top (acts also as extra water protection!)
Another alternative: If one of your buddies has room, you could always have one take the rainfly in their pack, the other person gets the poles and you the tent body! Team work makes the dream work!
