Rated 4 out of 5 by from We lived for 2.5 years off the grid using these Moved to the Adirondack Mountains and lived off the grid for 2.5 years in the old place while building the passive solar home with a house-sized array and battery bank. We kept two of these chained in the attic, connected to two 100W panels, and they powered our laptops, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, headlamps, "Lighthouse" lamps rechargeable batteries, cell phones, etc. Around winter solstice we sometimes had to top off the power with a generator, but overall these did the trick beautifully. We're keeping them connected to the new home as a backup power source, just in case. I just recommended one of these to a friend whose sister lives in Puerto Rico and has been without power since Irma washed through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for emergency power backup I bought this after Hurricane Irma, a few days before Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico. Have been using it to power up a standard size fridge, a fan, and charge my electronics for over a month. Still no power at my apartment but have been able to keep fridge on during the day with two 100w boulder briefcase solar panels and use the charged battery at night for two fans and charging cellphones and laptops. Originally bought with one panel had to buy a second one since the only place where I am able to set the panels securely in my apartment only gets sunlight for about 5.5 hrs a day. Thinking of buying a third panel (200w boulder briefcase) if power doesnxt vomes back in the next few weeks to be able to fully recharge the battery, keep fridge on during the night, and chain a 12v 100Ah battery. Didn't expect to be out of power for such a long time but the Yeti 1250 has been a lifesaver. Will recommend to anyone that lives on hurricane prone areas, specially those that live in apartments and can't have fuel generators. For me it was a good investment since it has been over a month without power in which I haven't had to do long lines or buy fuel for a generator.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! The title says it all. And so this app tells me that I'm 113 characters too short and since I'm now down to 33 characters it looks like I am done. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Provides all the #vanlife power we need! We have been using and living off the Yeti 1250 in our Westfalia for over a year now. We charge it with 2x Boulder 90 panels and get all the power we could possibly use. Our TruckFridge TF-49 runs off the Yeti 24/7 with enough power left over to charge our phones, camera batteries and more. Thanks for the great products that are so easy to use Goal Zero!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good Product I bought this generator a couple of years ago. It works well for what we have used it for, and we are satisfied with it. One thing I would change is to have the controls on the top with a waterproof cover over it. It weighs about 100 lbs, so it is not easy to tilt, and leaning over to read the controls at ground level is difficult and ridiculous. Also, my Mom uses it to run a portable oxygen concentrator when the power goes out, but she has trouble seeing the buttons. They are black on black with tiny print. It looks spiffy, but for an older person, that is very difficult. Specifically, the Display light button is so difficult to see, even I didn't notice it for the first year, and it is intended to help see the screen. You cannot use it, if you cannot see it, so you had to work real hard to see the lcd screen. Overall though we have been happy with it. One thing though, you need to make sure it can run what you want. It is a good generator, but it will not run my Mom's household oxygen concentrator, but only the portable one.. You should check the wattage requirements of the equipment you want to use it for or you may be unpleasantly surprised.

Does the 1250 come with 2 chargers? If so, I could alternate chargers for my fridge, also taking breaks in between. Can I run fridge n cook also. How do you hook up to Central a/c.

Asked by: Barbi
The 1250 comes only with one AC wall charger. Means, you can charge this unit in your home while you have power. You can certainly buy a solar panel and pair it with the wall charger to speed up the charging process! But, out of the box, only 1 wall charger (so charge it when you have power!). I would not cook and have your fridge plugged into this at the same time unless you are cooking on a small electric griddle. To run a full sized electric stove AND a refrigerator would cut down the battery life significantly. If you have a gas stove, you do not need to necessarily plug that in to the charger as you can use a match to light the pilot. If you have an electric stove, maybe invest in a small camp stove or electric griddle that can cook just the necessities. This little generator will not hook up to a central AC. It can power small room air conditioners, but not a whole house air conditioner, sorry!

I'm confused. One review said they were able to hook their refrigerator up to the yeti1250, but another user said it would only run a mini fridge. ????

Asked by: Barbi
Hey Barbi! Not all refrigerators are built the same. Full-size refrigerator runtimes from the Yeti 1250 are dependent on several factors, including the year, make and model of your refrigerator, as well as its volume, fullness and usage. Mini refrigerators will most likely remain on for 20 hours but a large, fill sized fridge will get about 2 to 3 hours. The 1250 holds a total of 1200Wh and a standard 20 cubic foot would eat up 1411Wh in a WHOLE day. The strategy is, power on the fridge with the battery for 2 hours. Unplug and recharge but DO NOT OPEN the refrigerator while battery charges. Once charged, power on the refrigerator again. Only open or use the refrigerator while it is being run on battery generator and avoid opening the refrigerator during recharge times. So, it is VERY true that one's mileage will vary, especially if you are using more than one appliance on one battery pack. They make a 1400 pack, as well. It takes 18 hours to fully charge the Goal Zero 1250 with one solar panel. You can combine solar panels to reduce that charge time AND you can chain batteries to increase output.
