Hey there, Stephen!
This is a really great questions! I reached out to our friends at Garmin, and here's what they said:
First, this watch is definitely set up to download accurate information about bike trails, and your best path to that information really depends on your comfort level with different platforms.
Garmin recommends Basecamp for charting out trips, and because it's built right into the capabilities of this watch, it's simple to get yourself accurate trail maps. Here's a link to their site where they give you the low-down on this: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/shop/downloads/basecamp.
They also said Strava is really simple to use with this watch. It's easy to link to Strava with your Garmin connect account.
If you're more comfortable using something like Google Earth, you would have to be able to make a KML file and export it to Basecamp in the Garmin system.
So, there are many paths to the same goal. Garmin provides great support for their products, too, so they can help you get set up with something that will work for you.
I hope this helps!
