Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT parka! I bought this in Dark Gray as a birthday gift for my husband. He loves it! Along with the most important factor—that it's kept him toasty on the coldest days this winter—his favorite features are the length (mid-thigh and slightly longer curved hem in the back), the convenient pockets, and fun details like the leather zip pulls and slightly darker gray panels providing a subtle contrast at the shoulders/arms/back. A durable, beautifully made parka that he looks forward to using for many years to come!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Runs Large !! Awesome jacket, but runs one size to large. The insulation was a little thinner than I expected and wasn't aware that it wasn't goose down.Would like to have had real fur on hood but not a big deal.Returned jacket and purchased a Fjallraven Mens Kyl Parka. This parka is heavy duty and has goose down filling. It was more expensive, but everything I wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When the going gets tough, the tough get going. I own more outerwear than anyone I know, and I own it so I can go outside. There are a lot of different conditions the weather can throw at you, and this item is for the coldest days. After about a mile, I'm unzipping the chest and letting off steam. The exterior is tough as nails. I wax my other Fjallraven gear, but this one is fine with its hydratic lining, and the fact that extreme cold doesn't support extreme moisture. I have never felt the cold creep through, but I'm wearing appropriate layers underneath, too. I don't feel like the arms are too long, or the insulation too thin. I just wish it were really cold more often so I could wear it more often. Pair this with a balaclava and the fuzzy Fjallraven hat, put on some insulated pants, and you won't get far before you need to open up. Happy Trails!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cool parka This is a nice coat. Tough material! The insulation is a little thin though, but the hood is nice and big and the cost is long. Great for wind protection but you might need to layer in really cold weather. It runs large. If it fits good around the waist then the upper body and sleeves will be loose and long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST.PARKA.EVER best parka I've ever purchased. very warm in cold winter conditions. lots of pockets and looks sharp too. what more could you ask for?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excelent Parka It is the best parka that I've had. It is extremely warm, although it can be used with temperatures above freezing, to 10 degrees I have been without feeling cramped by heat. The hydratic membrane makes it waterproof. The sizing I found something big, use a size L normally, but here asked for the M and goes perfect. Mido 183cm and weight 77kg. The quality is wonderful, exterior and interior, the hood is wide and the hair does not bother anything. I have the impression that you will be with me for years.

Hey! I want to ask what is the exact differences between the Barents and Polar Guide Parkas in terms of length, warmth, build and so on?

Asked by: JackWilshere
Thank you for the question! Both Parka's offer a "Regular Fit" and are practically identical. The two main differences are that the Barents Parka has Down insulation, while the Polar Guide has synthetic insulation. Both are waterproof, have the same jacket fabric, and hit at the thigh. I would say the Polar Guide is about a half inch longer, tho. Since the Barents uses 150g Supreme Microloft and the Polar Guide uses 250 grams, I would say that the Polar Guide will be the warmer of the two. It really comes down to which type of insulation you prefer. Some people are allergic to the down-feathers and therefore would need the synthetic option. I hope this helps a little!

whats the equivalent down fill power rating for a this jacket? is it the equivalent to a 550? 600? 700?

Asked by: danzi
Hey there, This coat is insulated with 100% polyester Supreme Microloft. Unfortunately there is no information available on what this would be equivalent to in fill power for down as the properties that determine this are not able to be compared to how synthetic insulation is constructed. This jacket would be great in almost all winter conditions and should keep you warm wherever you wear it.

Hi, Can you describe the Storm color? Is it closer to a blue or a grey? Hard to tell from the photos. Thanks

Asked by: GPG67
Hiya GPG67, thanks for your question! I agree... it is hard to tell. The Storm color is like a grayish-blue... not as dark as navy blue, and not grey. Hope this helps a little!

Hi there! What temperatures would this parka best be rated for use in? Also, does moosejaw's awesome standard return policy apply to this product? Many thank

Asked by: Spencer
Hiya Spencer, thanks for your question! Sorry, we do not provide temperature ratings on clothing because warmth depends on so many different variables... including activity level, metabolism, and perspiration, as well as the other clothing layers you are wearing. That said, this is a very warm parka for winter weather. It has 150 grams of Supreme Microloft insulation (which feels surprisingly light). For extremely cold temperatures you might need to layer underneath, but you should be fine in 25 and below degrees. You might even get overheated, depending on your activity level. Regarding the return policy... yes, you can totally return it. All of our products are returnable, except for weigh bearing climbing equipment. You can read all about our return policy here: Hope this helps!

Hi I am 72 kg heavy and 180 cm tall. Usually I wear big Irish wool sweaters in winter. I wear ample parkas. The lenght of the inner leeve is 60 cm and the lenght of the back is 78 cm.Usually the leeves go to the half of the hands.Hich size do you reckon?

Asked by: SAMUEL
Heyo! Thanks for the question. Based on your height/weight I would recommend size medium. If you'd like a looser fit a size large would also work. Hope this helps!
