The Exped Syn Mat 9 is an insulated sleeping pad for venturing into the backcountry at temps down to -13°F. When the weather is cold, an R-value of 6.00 kicks up the heat through the night, lifting you 3.5 inches off the ground. Hidden within the baffles is 200g of Texpedloft Microfibre, just add air and you've got a comfy little bed to snooze on through the night. The durable 150D (top) and 75D (bottom) polyester helps prevent wear and tear from taking a toll on your camp gear. When it's time to tear down camp, the whole thing packs neat and tidy into a 10.6"x6.3" packsack.

FEATURES of the Exped Syn Mat 9

  • Microfiber insulation bonded to top and bottom for maximum loft/warmth
  • Integrated pump for quick and easy inflation
  • 75 denier fabric for durability
  • I-beam baffles
  • TPU Polyether Film Laminate, Hydrolysis resistant
  • Ultra light and ultra compact and offers the same insulating values
  • Separate flat valves for inflation and deflation simplify handling
  • More durable and protected from damage as they are flat in design and non protruding
  • Baffles welded between the microfiber filled air chambers eliminate cold spots and create a thick, comfortable, and stable air cushion
  • Synthetic microfiber filling is laminated to both upper and lower sides of the mat which eliminates the loss of loft common to synthetic filled sleeping bags
  • Air cells on the sides are thicker and give the mat a cradle shape that prevents you from rolling off the mat

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleep awaits! Had been struggling to sleep on my side on my previous pad. Love this one, it's a dream come true. Only field tested it once, but my arm didn't go numb & my hips never felt the ground. The built in pump is AMAZING.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the one! Synmat 7 works well for me in the med wide size. I am a side sleeper and at 5-`11" and 195 I need a wide mat. This fits me well and I sleep like a rock. ive used it to 28 deg without a problem. I have a down air mat for Stephensons warmlite and it is too narrow....get the wide! You wont regret it. JR

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Pad! I have used pads from a half dozen manufacturers over the years and this one is by far the best. It is supremely comfortable, very durable (much tougher than expected!), warm and quiet - none of those crinkly potato chip bag kinda sounds when moving around on it. I absolutely love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from new version Exped made a great pad even better by eliminating the need for the flat valve adapter. One size fill valve for all pads only make sense.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome sleeps. I'm sure my friends are sick of me raving about this epic sleeping mat. I've had 4 different kinds, and this is the one for me. I've camped on all sorts of landscapes (rocky mountainous to damp, ocean-side) with this thing and it is warm, dry and uber-comfy. Just got back from camping in the Sierra Nevadas and was sure that the thing would pop as the ground was so sharp and picky it made holes in the tent. The Exped lives on! And it was so cozy and warm that even in the chilly night air, I was toasty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest Sleeping Pad Ever! I love my Exped. Very comfortable sleeping pad. Nothing like laying down on a comfortable mat after a long day of paddling and portaging. Hands down grade A mat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect sleeping pad! I started out with a thermarest trill lite. I just couldn't sleep on my side with that thing. I realized that I needed a full air mattress and this is what I ended up with (I chose this one because it was the thickest). It inflates well and the pump works great. I am 6'1'' so it is nice that it is a little longer. Also it actually weighs less than the long version of my old thermarest. This is my only sleeping pad and will be accompanying me on many Sierra trips. My only wish is that they would make a mummy shaped version to cut down on weight and size a bit. I also like that it comes with a repair kit and nice stuff sac. It can't be beat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful This thing is really something special! Warm when it needs to be, fine for summer too. Wider than my half of the tent, which doesn't bother me, but means the old lady has to sleep on a seam. Takes longer to blow up than the girlfriend's thermarest, but worth it.

is this waterproof?

Asked by: cheerfulcheech
Hey there! This sleeping pad does not purport to be waterproof. You could certainly treat it with 2rd party waterproofing (see Nikwax), but they usually assume you are in a waterproof tent or on a footprint under a tarp, protected from elements.
