Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1980’s Sentinel Replaced by Mountain Pass My “Antique” Eureka Sentinel from my Scouting days, over 40 years ago, passed away after a weekend of severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, and crazy winds. It sprang leaks, the seams started to pull...it was tired, but functional until that bad night. It was a birthday gift back then and the guys at Eureka all signed the packing slip. I was 19....lots of memories in that tent.... I needed a replacement, I called Eureka and we discussed the amazing reliability and quality of their tents, and what model replaced my old 4 season. We decided on this, the Mountain Pass, and I am extremely pleased. My, what 40 years does for tent technology. Every pole is strapped together with elastic cord. No more fumbling for connectors and bridges. The poles snap into a central hub which ingeniously snaps into a center connector, lifting the tent skin to the center. Pole ends fit into metal grommets. No more end pins. Nylon hook-snaps, pull the skin to the poles, forming the interior shape. My old Sentinel had a special vestibule attachment and a single entrance. The dual side entrances make the tent easy to flip onto, rather than crawl. Just sit, and spin your butt around, and your in. The vestibules are part of the fly with an amazing amount of tie downs, tie ups, and loop connectors , making the walls easy to roll up in a variety of configurations, and firmly secure when necessary. There is plenty of room for gear, and even a good size cooler can be handy under there, on either side. The center orange fly at the main entrance has two grommets in it. I bet you could get extra poles and make a small awning area out of it. Inside is crazy roomie. Pockets for zippered open doors and windows to be stored in. Loop tie-ups to hang not only the gear loft, but suspension line too, who knows what else, and the whole line of Eureka accessories. These are more features than my Sentinel ever had. There are so many different loops, hooks and grommets, I’ll still be trying to figure them out next year. I really wish they had a good instructional video, not just on assembly and set-up, but how to use all the features and what everything is for. There is a lot. This entire tent is well thought out, superbly engineered and manufactured from material that should easily last another 40 years. By then, I’ll be well into my nineties. If the instructions weren’t sewn into the storage bag, I probably wouldn’t remember how to set it up by then. LOL Yes, buy it. Enjoy it. Make it a family heirloom....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mountain Pass 3 Eureka is the only manufacturer that makes a tent with zippered windows. I love this tent. I went camping on the Divide in 80mph wind (for real) no problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Choice The mountain pass 3 is an exceptional value. The materials are high quality but the construction and layout is what makes this tent. From the light compact size to the color coded straps, this tent is convenient to say the least. I am very impressed thus far and would definitely recommend this tent to others!
