Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these shorts and pants These are my go to hiking shorts and pants. I have four pairs of First Ascent shorts and four pairs of long pants! Bluish gray is my favorite. I hike a lot and these have held up admirably. They look great and are super comfortable. They are extremely light, but I have worn them in snow in Southern California mountains too. The fit is perfect for me: I am tall and not at all curvy. My android phone actually fits in one of zippered side pockets, but barely. Not sure if these are supposed to have any water resistance, but they got soaking wet a couple of times in the rain recently. It's possible that frequent washing wears out the DWR coating. I got a pair of rain pants in my backpack to wear over them when needed. Overall, I love, love these and hope they keep making them!

They’re definitely shorter than Bermudas, and so don’t look “dowdy.” They’re great; even after a long hike, they are wrinkle-free. The colors don’t “bleed”. I have three pairs and will definitely be ordering more. After all, what’s not to like?!!

I ordered a size up even when the size chart told me to choose size 10, I picked a size 12. Room for growth :-) Size 10 would probably fit me perfectly but I had never ordered these before. For comparison I am 5’9” 148 pounds.

They protect from the sun’s harmful rays. They look great after washing. I enjoy the pockets to keep my phone and ear buds case, freeing up my hands during a workout.
