The material is comfortable and looks good with hiking boots, tennis shoes, or even sandels. I'm about 5'5", 140 lbs and a size 6 works for a tighter fit or 8 is good too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit, great pockets I’ve been on the fence buying these because my only option to purchase them was online, and I haven’t had the best luck with having things fit the first time after buying them online. I was pleasantly surprised that these were quite comfortable and fit my regular size. The two zip pockets are placed perfectly, and a great size to securely drop my phone, small card holder, or pocket knife in. Another plus is the hand pockets actually fit my hands. I also like that they’re flattering, and not baggy.No back pockets but I personally didn’t need them, the two thigh pockets add the storage space. The color matches the image perfectly as well. I would even be interested in buying a second pair at some point. I definitely recommend giving these a shot!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great deep cargo pockets! These Guide pants are terrific. Petite length probably would have been better as these are 1" too long. Wish they also had back pockets (zippered or not), and no "A" logo on the front (or at least in a less conspicuous color or location). Don't always need to be advertising. I use them for hiking, climbing, and around town too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This is NOT the same as previous generations I have multiple First Ascent shorts, capris and pants. These are my favorite brand/style to fit a person who might not have that much of a waist. I have purchased this style through both Moosejaw and Eddie Bauer in the past and the material used for all other pairs, is different than this last pair that I purchased in July, 2023. This new material is NOT the same as previous generations. Something happened between <2022 and 2023, because this newest pair is more plasticy, and stiffer, not as breathable... almost feels like rain pants. I'm not sure if all recent versions are like this though or if its the color and a specific plant/sourcing that dictated the material.... There is also a newer version of the First Ascent that Eddie Bauer is calling the Rainer. When i asked Eddie Bauer's Customer Service what the difference was between those two, all they said was "there isn't much difference". That's not saying much. I hope the pair that I most recently purchased is just a fluke, and the materials that have been used for many years prior to buying this pair is still around.. because this fit like the usual First Ascent line, but the material was not the same. BTW.. its really hard to rate this product now. My star ratings are going to reflect this newest pant, and not the line as a whole. If the materials they use go back to the older version, this would get all 5 stars all around. For sizing purposes, I am 5'6", 157# and I usually buy a size 8. This latest pant fit a smidge tighter than previous size 8's, but not in a bad way.

What does S22 mean in a choice for color

How big are the cargo pockets? Will they hold a large phone?

The cargo pockets are 5.5&quot; x 5.5&quot;, with a bottom that tapers down to 4&quot;. They cannot fit a large phone in its entirety, as the zipper of the pocket starts about half an inch down from the top. With that said we did physically check and an iPhone 12 sits snugly inside the pocket with only the top bit hanging out. You wouldn't be able to zip the pocket but the majority of the iPhone did fit.
