Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not strong enough I used them one day, and zipper came apart at zipper see and stitch. The pant in this style isn’t great . If the pants was solid maybe wouldn’t have been defective. The problem I had is that they didn’t have my size in regular pants. The only good thing of buying convertible pants is I have a pair of shorts. Don’t buy if going to work as hard as I do.

I was looking for something lightweight, convertible but tough enough to stand up to the riggers of a week of hardcore outdoors activity. 3 of my backpacking buddies wear these, so I thought I'd try them. These seem to fit the bill. The crotch has an extra panel sewn in for more movement and I like the construction. The color coded zippers for right/left leggings makes it quick and easey to zip them back on when needed. I recommend these pants.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sizing Inaccurate I bought these pants for my husband based on the size he always takes in EB pants (36/32). The inseam was at least 2 inches shorter than usual. When I returned them to the EB store, the Service Rep told me that they had received other returns for the same reason. I reordered them with a 2 inch longer inseam and even they were barely long enough. The waist size was correct and when my husband first tried them on he said how well they fit and how comfortable they felt. And then I told him to look down and see that they were up around his ankles. So they are comfortable and we reordered, but it was a hassle to have to do the return and then repurchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Zipper Placement Binds Articulation The entire pant stretches except the zipper seam of course, but it sit just below my knee cap, which causes the material to cam over my leg and stop me from squatting or stepping up high. If the convertible zipper was higher up the thigh, the bind wouldn't be an issue. For reference, I bought a 36/30 (wish they offered 35 in this style) and am 5'9".

Do these pants have zipper or Velcro closure on bottom of leg do that you can convert to shorts w/out removing boots?

Hey there, thanks for your question. The bottom of the pant legs for the Eddie Bauer First Ascent Men's Guide Convertible Pants have a zipper to expand the opening. Making it easier to use these without taking off your boots. I hope this helps!
