Rated 5 out of 5 by from It covers all of my wish list items I have owned a Vintage EC bag that I bought it in late 80'. This is an internal backpack/duffel bag 40L. I have taking this bag all over the world, but it was time to get something lighter. I have researched, and researched to find a similar bag as a replacement in the EC products, as well as other brands. I had ordered and returned several bags. Then I decided to order Gear Hauler. I have to admit it. At first, when I took the bag out of the box I thought I had made a mistake. The bag looked so small (granted it was empty). After I opened the bag, I was surprised to see this bag coming to full size. However, it made me realized how much room this bag has. I took all the contents (cubes) from my older EC bag. Well, I still had more room in the Gear Hauler. The best part of the bag is the low profile it has. I don't think I would have any issues carrying the bag as a backpack while riding train, subways etc. Not to mention the bag has a very elegant, and yet rugged appearance. At this point in my life I don't want to advertise myself as "a backpack traveler". This bag has a great appearance. I also appreciate the material that can withstand a bit of water of moisture if I need to place the bag on wet surface. I"m also very glad that the shoulder strap is included vs. other brands that is not included. On the negative side, I wish the bottom (shoe compartment) had a double zipper in order to put a lock. The logo on the bag is very low key, unlike other brands that makes you feel like a billboard. I haven't taking a trip, but the bag is already packed up ready to go. I also bought a couple of EC compression cubes and it helped a great deal

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great travel bag I bought this to travel bi weekly and so far it has been great. Great quality, main pocket is huge, lots of space for clothes, my smaller computer fits great and do pens and other small items in the computer section. One thing I would change is to separate the computer pocket from the pocket where the pens and other items can go, but aside from that this bag is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Abundance of Space! Liked style, but a smaller version would be ideal for me. Especially liked the ability to add to Tarnac handle. Lots of space!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bag for light travelers My husband and I each have a gear hauler. We like to travel light, with carry on only if possible. We have used these on a 2.5 week trip to New Zealand, and two 2 week trips to to Europe. When used with packing cubes/compression sac this bag fit everything we needed for these trips without issue. We were able to carry these bags on trains in Europe and stow them in the overhead compartments on international flights no problem. We really love these bags for the versatility of the backpack straps. When walking between train stations and hotels in Europe it's great to throw the bag on your back rather than roll a bag across the cobblestone streets. It's not as large and garish as a typical "backpacker's" pack. We appreciate that when worn as a backpack there are no exposed pockets on the back making it safer from pick pocketers on public transit/on the street. However, the bag can get pretty heavy when loading it with everything needed for a 2 week trip and after walking for a while the straps are not very comfortable. The straps don't distribute the weight well as there is no waist belt. But a waist belt would detract from the sleekness of this bag and would take up extra space so we are fine with some discomfort. I have recommended the Gear Hauler to my siblings and friends and they too have used these bags on multiple week trips in Europe and had good reports back. For the last few years I noticed the Gear Hauler was no longer available from Eagle Creek. I am glad to see that you are selling this again. It is a great product for anyone who wants to travel light and would prefer not to have wheeled luggage but also doesn't want to carry around a backpacking pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would recommend this bag for Photographers I used this bag as one of my carry on bags for my travels to Asia. It fit all the secondary items I needed for my video work, including small tripod, monopod, shoulder mount, reflector, a light with stand, some MISC items, and still fit all the clothes I needed for a week. Granted I am a guy. So I didn't need that many clothes, but this bag is very durable and seems weather resistant. It was in the rain a couple times, for a little bit, and it didn't bother it. I used it mainly as a backpack, but it can be used as a duffle bag. Very versatile and rugged. It can weigh on your shoulders if it's too heavy. So I wish it had some hip supports to take the load off, but I can't be too picky. This is a nice bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bag for International Travel or Weekend Trips I purchased this bag for an extended trip to the UK. I wanted something that I could take carry-on, had a protected area for the laptop, and would be easy to carry for long walks between trains, busses, etc. The gear hauler fit the bill perfectly. A hidden feature I didn't expect to love were the wheeled luggage straps on the front. My wife has a tarmac bag, so I can easily slip the gear hauler over the handle and take both of our bags with one hand. I've used this on USA and international flights and have never had an issue fitting it into the overhead area. Works great with packing cubes, too. When I'm not using it, it folds up small and fits in the closet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 9 State Harley Ride This thing was awesome and very comfortable while on a 9 state Harley ride. I got caught in a torrential thunder storm in Lubbock TX - roads flooded in minutes and my stuff was dry when I got to my destination. I also used their packing folders and cubes kept me organized. I also put a 2 liter Camelbak Hydration pack in where the back pack straps come out. can't say enough how well this thing works. I also use this for weekly Softball Umpiring
