Deuter Aircomfort Back System

Deuter Aircomfort Back System
The heart of the Aircomfort system is a flexible spring steel frame. It is extremely durable and provides stable tension for the airy back mesh and creates the ventilation space between pack and wearer's back, which lets moist air escape. The end result is up to 25% less perspiration while you hike, which in turn reduces circulatory stress and helps increase endurance, all tested and proven by the renowned Research Institute Hohenstein.

Deuter Aircontact Back System

Deuter Aircontact System
The principle behind the Aircontact system is to bring the pack weight close to the hiker's center of gravity, making it easier to carry heavy loads. Cushions made from unique hollow chamber foam create a pump effect to move air more efficiently, and provide fantastic ventilation. The end result is up to 15% less perspiration for the hiker (proven in tests conducted by Gabriel L.&T and the University of Erlangen), and a pack that offers outstanding load transfer and a secure, perfectly balanced fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the ULTIMATE bike pack I have had my Race EXP Air for approximately TEN YEARS. I am a daily bike commuter, so I can state that my Race EXP Air now has at least 25,000 kms on it through all types of salty East Coast Canadian weather. Many mornings over the years I have jammed clothing, shoes, phones, food, books, etc in it. On the way home I might at times jam a litre of wine on top of the rest. In short, I am not gentle with it. The bag has a variety of compartments to stash wallets cards or money. The bag is almost waterproof (while riding), I've only used the rain cover a couple of times. Presently my good old bag has a slight tear in one of the zippers. Does Deuter do repairs? In any case I intend to keep it in service. The best part of cycling with this bag is that I forget I have it on! Never have I experienced any discomfort while wearing it and that would include strain, abrasive agitation or over heating, be the ride 10 minutes or 10 hours. I have convinced many friends to use this bag and I'm sure their reviews would be similar to mine. I write this review today because today I have splurged and purchased the smaller Race X as my new running and hiking bag, I hope it's as PERFECT as the Race EXP. Thanks Deuter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A workhorse!! What more can you say about a pack that's lasted 17 years?! Yes, 17 years. My Race X Air has traversed the Continental Divide, taken abuse in Fruita and Moab, and has been on my shoulders for every ride since summer 2000.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite man-purse Sturdy, holds just enough for commuting (laptop, food, keys, papers, clothes, folding umbrella). Waist strap and hip pads combined with suspension system keep back from getting sweaty and keep weight on hips. Outstanding ventilation. These last me 4 about 4 years of daily use before they look grungy and the zippers start to fail -- fair durability for such a lightweight pack. Works fine for hiking as a daypack. If you want to do overnighters would get a hiking pack instead as no good way to lash items to the outside of this pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I wanted out of a day pack Bought this three months ago. I mostly use it for cycling in and out of work, as a hydration pack for adventure motorcycling and also day hiking. Love the functionality, especially the ergonomic fit and the bright rain cover. Living in Tampa there are daily afternoon showers and the built in rain cover protects my gear from getting wet and with its bright colours let's drivers know I am on the road. It's a compact day pack, but has sufficient space for my needs. I also really like the mesh shoulder straps, as they don't generate nor hold the sweat like other packs do.

Can this bad boy fit a laptop?

Asked by: Chris
Hey there, Thank you for the awesome question! This pack does have room and space for a laptop. With that said, if you are looking for a commuter pack to carry a laptop in, I would look elsewhere. Carrying a laptop in this pack will prove difficult and be uncomfortable. I hope this helps!
