Deuter Shield System
The main purpose of our Shield System is to minimize, or even to a large extent, prevent injury occurring during risky sports. It’s a ‘smart’ protector foam that remains soft and flexible in normal use, but upon heavy impact the foam resistance grows with increasing speed. It delivers excellent shock absorption and provides the basis for the protective function. The foam returns to its original shape after the deformation. This memory effect allows the protector’s use multiple times. The typical V-shape of the construction covers the sensitive areas of the back, whilst retaining the pack’s outstanding freedom of movement. The high and close set anchor points of the hip wings guarantee a super compact fit even on rough rides. The TÜV-GS tested back system combines a comfortable carry, outstanding ventilation in the free spaces between the padding and maximum safety in the event of a fall.
Deuter technical and backpacking packs are offered in One Size for each volume, and feature an adjustable torso range. Please check the PRODUCT FEATURES and / or SPECIFICATIONS for the torso range measurements of a pack, and follow the steps below to determine your torso size.
Deuter hipbelts are adjustable to accommodate most any wearer.
HOW to MEASURE TORSO SIZE
1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.
2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.
3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.
