Deuter Aircomfort Back System

Deuter Aircomfort Back System
The heart of the Aircomfort system is a flexible spring steel frame. It is extremely durable and provides stable tension for the airy back mesh and creates the ventilation space between pack and wearer's back, which lets moist air escape. The end result is up to 25% less perspiration while you hike, which in turn reduces circulatory stress and helps increase endurance, all tested and proven by the renowned Research Institute Hohenstein.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extraordinary Comfort & Quality This is an incredibly comfortable day pack and its quality features are extraordinary. The airflow back is an intelligent design and each feature is well executed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More Pockets Than I Thought The size and quality is exactly what I expected from the photo, but I was pleasantly surprised by the "small items" zip pocket at the top of the bag. And, yes, that is a stretch pocket in the front.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pack- except for Nalgenes... I ordered this pack for some international travel I'm doing this summer. I'm a tall/long-torso'd female and opted for the mens version. It fits perfectly and it's one of the best day packs I've had. The ventilation system helps a lot with keeping your back cool. While I love this pack, I am extremely disappointed that my nalgenes don't fit in the side pockets! Nalgenes are very common and I found that when the bag was packed, a nalgene just falls out of the side pocket immediately. Apparently they are sized for smaller disposable water bottles (wasteful...) and don't hold the reusable ones well at all. I just kept my bottles in the main pouch but it would sure be nice for the side pockets to be able to hold them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great daypack Great day pack for a long day in the field. I've been using this pack daily for the past 10 months. It is very narrow and carries well . I've used it daily to carry books, a netbook, and lunch to work, and, on weekends in the mountains. I've even used to to carry gear for a macro-invertebrate sampling job. With my family, It easily fit a few 1/2 liter water bottles in each side mesh pocket and rain gear and snacks for two adults and three children. I have only two caveats. 1. the bag does not sit or even lean when full - it wants to pitch forward when it has anything in it. 2. I like that it does come with an integrated rain cover. However, it you do get caught in a stray shower, the fabric soaks up water like a sponge. It's as if there's no DWR on it at all (albeit and easy fix).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent versatile daypack I bought this pack for an elk hunt in Montana and it was perfect - packed it with extra clothes, binoculars, gear etc. The suspension system keep my back from overheating and is incredibly comfortable. The hip belt was great - did the job but not too big for this pack. I inserted a bladder for water and had no problems. It's also great for an every day pack. The curved design is remarkably efficient but does limit your space for hard objects (i.e. books). I would highly recommend this pack and will be using it for a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great small/medium daypack! I got this pack a few weeks ago and I've been using it to bike commute to school and as an all around (front country) daypack. It's a great size for getting around town, very comfortable, and designed simply enough that it works for everything from school books to gym climbing to a dog supplies carry-all. I did fill it with 4 liters of full water bottle one day, and it carried the weight very well. I haven't had to chance to test it in the woods yet, but I have to assume it will hold up well. The only caveat I would add is that the fancy back panel (meant for ventilation) means that the inside of the pack is almost kidney shaped. Not a huge problem for carrying soft/flexible things around, but doesn't sit quite right with books. I'm definitely using outside what it's intended use, but something to mention.

i always inevitably have to ride my bike in the rain a lot and i'm wondering if this will keep contents dry if i get caught in a storm. it rains everyday here in the summer. thanks in advance!

I recently got this backpack and it came with a rain cover in the base pouch! I'm not sure if that was a fluke or they just forgot to list it in product details. It fits perfectly and is so convenient!

Sweaty back is something I'm trying diligently to reduce/eliminate. Does the air ventilation system on the Deuter AirLite 22 live up to it's billing?

Asked by: Sam Gold
Hey there, Thanks for the question. The Airlite 22 is one of the best-ventilated packs that we sell. Deuter constructs it with their Aircomfort FlexLite System, which is lightweight, flexible, and keeps air moving through the system. The biggest plus of the system is that the suspension keeps the pack from resting directly against your back, which means that cool air moves through the mesh instead of being trapped between your back and the pack. I hope this helps!

Deuter Men's Packs

Deuter technical and backpacking packs are offered in One Size for each volume, and feature an adjustable torso range. Please check the PRODUCT FEATURES and / or SPECIFICATIONS for the torso range measurements of a pack, and follow the steps below to determine your torso size.

Deuter hipbelts are adjustable to accommodate most any wearer.

1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.
