Deuter Aircontact Back System

Deuter Aircontact System
The principle behind the Aircontact system is to bring the pack weight close to the hiker's center of gravity, making it easier to carry heavy loads. Cushions made from unique hollow chamber foam create a pump effect to move air more efficiently, and provide fantastic ventilation. The end result is up to 15% less perspiration for the hiker (proven in tests conducted by Gabriel L.&T and the University of Erlangen), and a pack that offers outstanding load transfer and a secure, perfectly balanced fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack for short & long day hikes. Vent area on back contact area is one of better if not best for defusing sweat. Can wear without hip belt (inside "garage") with less than 10 lb., larger loads and with belt my preference. Pack length has weight on hips not on waist on my 6 ft frame. Womans and different sizes in similar models available. Design including bottom access to packs enough easy for 2 people. Built in rain shield has been handy and deploys quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Survival Necessity! It started as another adventure in the but the weather took a turn for the worse. All I had was the clothes on my back and this pack with some water, the days rations, trek poles, and an ice axe (just in case)... enough to get thru a normal trek. The path of the day is had numerous obstacles that required me to jump and crawl and this pack stayed cinched to my back like a turtle shell. The loops on the side held my gear on securely and didn't snag once, but had easy access! On the way back home is when I hit trouble... a massive snowstorm rolls in and starts piling it on. The rainfly went up and I hunkered down. After trudging through what was now a foot of snow, I needed a pit stop. On a cold and nasty day Starbucks was calling my name. I grab a pumpkin spiced latte and boot the last half mile only to have a snow plow throw snow in my direction causing me to be coated with white stuff and be adjoined with a neighboring pile. It was amazing that this pack traveled with me thru the tumble and held onto me like a koala to a tree. But we made it... me, the pack, and my pumpkin spiced latte. That is how I survived my journey to work in Manhattan and back in a blizzard. (P.S. this pack is the bees knees...just buy it!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great pack I bought this a while ago to use as a smaller alternative to my much larger pack and this thing is incredible. A lot of different features make this pack a great choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost a perfect pack Deuter makes great packs that are durable, comfortable, attractive, and well designed. This pack is no exception. Pockets are where you want them and the overall experience is very user friendly. Deuter clearly gives a lot of thought to design and user experience. However, there is one major flaw that causes me not to award five stars. Specifically, the outside pocket for water bottles is not deep or snug enough, which causes larger water bottles to fall out if you bend over. I was on a bridge crossing a stream flowing down a mountain side in Switzerland, and when I bent over my full water bottle fell into the stream. I watched it slowly flow down the valley, as I cursed this curious design flaw. This is not so much of an issue with a shorter, fatter bottle, but the whole problem seems so unnecessary.

Deuter Men's Packs

Deuter technical and backpacking packs are offered in One Size for each volume, and feature an adjustable torso range. Please check the PRODUCT FEATURES and / or SPECIFICATIONS for the torso range measurements of a pack, and follow the steps below to determine your torso size.

Deuter hipbelts are adjustable to accommodate most any wearer.

1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.
