Deuter Aircontact Back System

Deuter Aircontact System
The principle behind the Aircontact system is to bring the pack weight close to the hiker's center of gravity, making it easier to carry heavy loads. Cushions made from unique hollow chamber foam create a pump effect to move air more efficiently, and provide fantastic ventilation. The end result is up to 15% less perspiration for the hiker (proven in tests conducted by Gabriel L.&T and the University of Erlangen), and a pack that offers outstanding load transfer and a secure, perfectly balanced fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new best pack This pack was given to someone asa surprise gift. First off she loves the turquoise color. She tried it out on an easy walking trail. It carried snacks, drawing materials, binocs, a jacket and a water bottle tucked into the side pocket. She says it's really well balanced and was easy to adjust for her 5 foot frame. "It felt like it was empty. It's really comfortable." The hip belt helps stabilize the pack. The stabilizing straps at the shoulders snug the pack close to body. As a person with some mobility limitations she really liked how it stayed put in spite of having an uneven walking gait. Other packs have been bothersome because they tended to swing side to side across her back. The only small difficulty was being able to easily reach the water bottle due again to some mobility issues, but over all "it's really workable pack" and it made her look sporty not dorky.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Functional Pack This is the third Deuter day pack in the family and first women-specific. This one, like the similar men's models, isn't flashy. No gimmicks or attempts to follow the trend of the week. It just plain works. Pockets are in the right place. Straps are in the right place. The suspension system is outstanding, providing a comfortable fit and easy to carry pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thanks for recognizing women are different from men. Purchased this for hiking in nature as a woman... and the zoo, aquarium, soccer games, vacations as a Mom. I'm a foot shorter than my husband, so not sure how unisex backpacks are suppose to work. This was made for women! Excited the lap belt has a 'garage' for when not needed, not offered on any Ospreys. Watched youtube video before purchasing.

Hey what's up with the cutsie yellow flower attached to the Deuter backpacks? Seems like a waste of materials and serves no practical purpose that I can think of, not even as a cool doodad. Love the pack it came on though.

Asked by: Walk and roll
Hiya Walk and roll! It actually does serve a purpose... in fact, two purposes! The yellow flower signifies a female friendly backpack. It helps retail staff and customers locate which packs are designed for smaller torso sizes. The second purpose is that it makes a great hair tie. Hope this helps solve the mystery!

- + Size Guide

Deuter Women's Packs

Deuter technical and backpacking packs are offered in One Size for each volume, and feature an adjustable torso range. Please check the PRODUCT FEATURES and / or SPECIFICATIONS for the torso range measurements of a pack, and follow the steps below to determine your torso size.

Deuter hipbelts are adjustable to accommodate most any wearer.

1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.
