Deuter Aircontact Back System

Deuter Aircontact System
The principle behind the Aircontact system is to bring the pack weight close to the hiker's center of gravity, making it easier to carry heavy loads. Cushions made from unique hollow chamber foam create a pump effect to move air more efficiently, and provide fantastic ventilation. The end result is up to 15% less perspiration for the hiker (proven in tests conducted by Gabriel L.&T and the University of Erlangen), and a pack that offers outstanding load transfer and a secure, perfectly balanced fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome backpack Great functionality, very sturdy and well made. I own many Deuter backpacks but this is the best one so far! Used it on a 10 day backpacking trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great backpack We purchased this to replace my son's pack. The ability to adjust the pack to different body sizes and shapes was key. We were pleased to find that it fits his small 31 inch waste no problem. This pack would easily fit a much larger adult as well. The quality is great. The airflow is superb. Capacity options are a plus. The ability to access sleeping bag from below is a nice touch. Price point is very fair in my opinion. Glad we purchased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for a teenage Boy Scout Bought this for my son for Appalachian Trail hikes and to take to the high adventure Scout Camp Philmont this summer. He has no complaints. It's comfier than his old pack in the hip belt and this one goes small enough to do the job well for a tall skinny 15 year old. He liked it so much I bought the women's 45+10 version for myself. We both like the pocket placement and little lash straps on the lid (great for solar chargers) and the fact you can get to the sleeping bag compartment from the bottom or the top.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value for the price This pack doesn't quite have all the bells and whistles of the Osprey or Gregory packs I was looking at. But for less than 1/2 the price it's a very good pack and an amazing value. The hip belt doesn't have a ton of padding like the newer model does, but still sits comfortably on my (very bony) hips. Should get some good use out of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything Is Just Right After a 10 year hiatus from backpacking, I purchased this bag and went out for a three-night adventure in the woods. I was struck by the weight of the bag and its ability to comfortably carry 35+ pounds. The expandable lid and deep side pockets were greatly appreciated, and the pack was cool on the back. In terms of wear and tear, it looks great after my first outing and I hope it lasts for many years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like an extension of my body. Great bag! I have put this bag to the test. Many long trips. Easily holds everything important and more. Bag is 2 years old. Still no tears/rips. Seems holding strong. Even after I stuffed it beyond its limit. Very comfortable even after long days and many miles.

I was wondering where to find or if someone knows the max waist line this pack will fit? For the hip straps.

Asked by: Jumbo
Woo, sleuthing worked up a hunger in me! But it also worked up an answer. The hip belt measures almost 50 inches around. Hope that helps!

Hi, is it sold with the rain cover, or should I buy it separately?

Asked by: Alex_the_wanderer
Hiya Alex_the_wanderer! The rain cover is not included with this pack but you can find it here: Hope this helps!
