Deuter Aircontact Back System

Deuter Aircontact System
The principle behind the Aircontact system is to bring the pack weight close to the hiker's center of gravity, making it easier to carry heavy loads. Cushions made from unique hollow chamber foam create a pump effect to move air more efficiently, and provide fantastic ventilation. The end result is up to 15% less perspiration for the hiker (proven in tests conducted by Gabriel L.&T and the University of Erlangen), and a pack that offers outstanding load transfer and a secure, perfectly balanced fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Multi-day Trip! I bought this after researching Deuter, and this pack specifically, for over a year. What drew me to this pack was the way that Deuter really tailors the SL fit to a petite female body (5’ 4” with a short length torso) and the way the Aircomfort system breathes while keeping the weight of the pack close to your back- the molding of the mesh also provides a bit of a massage when moving, giving just a little more comfort. I bought this pack as an alternative to my 70L for shorter trips/trips during the summer. It easily fits my Nemo 3P tent, a 30 degree bag, 2-4 days worth of food for me and my dog, extra layers, with plenty of room left for a med kit, toiletries, and whatever else you need. The plethora of attachment options on the outside of the pack make it easy to find places to stash wet gear, slobbery dog bowls, dirty shoes, or whatever else you don’t want getting inside of your pack. I’ve taken it out to do a section of the AT and am looking forward to doing another section this weekend. Couldn’t recommend this pack any more!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size, super comfortable I bought this particular pack because of the size and comfort. After returning from two trips abroad where I tried different types of luggage my husband took me out shopping for the perfect pack. My criteria was: COMFORT, outside pockets accessable for small items, two ways to access the bulk of the pack and the size had to be carry on without pushing the boundaries of what a carryon is. The Deuter ACT packs are amazing for fit and comfort once filled with weight. A super employee at our local outdoor store helped me try on pack after backpack, filling with weights and letting me walk around a bit. For me nothing compared to this pack, I knew I wouldn't be happy with anything else. I have trouble with my neck and back and this pack is amazing the way it distributes the weight to not put pressure and pull on the neck and shoulders. A few days later we went to another store to try on packs and came right back around to the Deuter ACT Lite. No one in town carried the 45+ so I did a quick search to see where I could buy one and came across Mountain Steals. The price WAS a steal. I was actually worried that the website was fake, but my pack came in perfect! I can't wait for my next trip!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable pack I have this same pack in a 65+10L which I took on the Inka Trail last summer. We did not hire porters and carried our own gear and I was comfortable the entire time. I chose to purchase this smaller pack for trips needing less gear. So far, it is just as comfortable (if not more comfortable) than the larger size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great pack. Everything you could ask for in a pack. But with the amazing variable torso adjustments and air ventilation, this put Deuter out a head of the rest. While they catch up, Deuter keeps making great bags. If you are looking for more smaller pockets to stay organized you may want to consider a different model. Great price too, Mountain Steals!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed backpack Bought it for backpacking as well for travel as a carry on, etc. I think its very well designed. Also fits me comfortably (I am 5"4'). It's adjustable, so i think it'll fit anyone (I mean women, I think it might be too small for men).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits great! Lots of room I’ve taken the pack out several times on test hikes fully loaded. It has several adjustment points for a very individualized fit, which I love! I also like the separate bottom section - perfect for storing your shelter for quick access - no need to dump out all your gear to get to the tent/hammock. The only negatives are the one small pouch on the hip belt and that I can’t seem to reach the water bottle on the sides easily. Maybe I need to be more limber, have longer arms (I’m 5’2), or I need to break the pack in a bit more. I’m usually having to stop to drink or get my hiking buddy to help me put the water bottle back. The pack is water bladder capable though. I just haven’t used this feature yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm! Nice fit and features, but the back panel is very warm - ended up deciding to go with something else. Would be great in a cooler climate! :)

- + Size Guide

Deuter Women's Packs

Deuter technical and backpacking packs are offered in One Size for each volume, and feature an adjustable torso range. Please check the PRODUCT FEATURES and / or SPECIFICATIONS for the torso range measurements of a pack, and follow the steps below to determine your torso size.

Deuter hipbelts are adjustable to accommodate most any wearer.

HOW to MEASURE TORSO SIZE
1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.
