I am 5'2" and 130 lbs and the small is great without being too snug. The great pocket design and zipper strings were added surprises. I get a lot of compliments on this coat so I really I can't recommend it enough!

There is plenty of room in the arms/shoulders, so I don’t feel constricted when I want to wear an extra base layer. I can wear this is so many different combinations with other outer/baselayers that I should be able to wear this all season long no matter the temp. I’m a big fan of having breathable, multipurpose jackets and this is absolutely perfect. I’m typically a small or medium in jackets, and decided to go with a small so I had the option of wearing it as a midlayer if needed.

My one complaint is that the jacket has no shape for being labeled as a women’s jacket. I had to size up to accommodate my hips & butt, (which honestly aren’t even that big), which then made the top part roomy. I still kept it because it gives me lots of room to layer… But this gives it more of an oversized-puffer-look than the athletic-look. Still love it though!!

What are the washing instructions for this item?

Hey there, thanks for your question. The care instructions on the tag say: Machine Wash Cold Tumble Dry Low Do not Bleach Do not Dry Clean Thankfully it seems pretty straight forward, I would recommend using a tech wash or some other non detergent soap. The down will not respond well to laundry soap with heavy chemicals in it. I hope this helps!

The color, "black iris stripes" looks like a dark purple to me. Is it really black?

Known for its distinct array of color and texture. Its soft haunting lavender core, obscured by the silken drapes of its twilight purple petals. So yeah, more purple I guess. I hope this helps.
