Rewards Program Terms and Conditions
Last updated January 1st, 2020
Opting-in to Moosejaw Rewards:
All users must accept these terms and conditions and create an account with Moosejaw to opt-in to the program and earn, accrue, retain and redeem Moosejaw Reward Dollars (MJ$). The program is FREE to join and membership is ongoing until or unless the user requests to be removed or is removed due to abuse of the program. Users can opt-in to the program while checking out on Moosejaw.com or at one of our stores or at any time within 30 days of purchase to accrue the MJ$ earned on that purchase. Once opted-in to the program, MJ$ will earn and accrue for redemption as described below until the MJ$ expire or the user leaves the program.
All information collected and used to facilitate the Moosejaw Rewards program is directly related to the program's ability to provide value to the customer. A customer opting-in to the Moosejaw Rewards program is a separate action from establishing a user profile as a result of making a purchase.
The program opt-in requirement was added on August 6th, 2019. Existing program members prior to that date must still formally opt-in and accept the terms and conditions to continue to retain, earn and redeem MJ$. Pre-existing program members that fail to opt-in prior to June 28, 2020 will be removed from the program, and any unused MJ$ will be voided. We really, really don't want to that to happen, so please opt-in or we'll feel terrible.
Leaving Moosejaw Rewards Program:
You may choose to leave the Moosejaw Rewards program at any time by logging in and clicking on the “Opt out Rewards Program” link within the My Account Summary page, Email, calling 877-MOOSEJAW (877-666-7352) or in-store with help from our employees. If you leave the rewards program, any unused MJ$ will be voided upon completion of your request.
Earning MJ$:
All items we sell are eligible with the exception of gift cards or other items specifically noted. Full-priced items earn 10% back while discounted items earn 2.5%. "Discounted items" includes items on sale or discounted via coupon code or use of MJ$. You do not earn MJ$ for shipping or tax charges, only from the item value. MJ$ expire two years after earning and are redeemed on a first-in, first out basis (in other words, we always use your oldest MJ$ that are closest to expiration).
Checking & Redeeming MJ$:
On Moosejaw.com, just sign-in on any page to see your available balance. Once signed in, you will see your available MJ$ and maximum that can be redeemed in the payment section of the checkout process. In stores, provide the email address attached to your account to learn your balance and apply to your purchase. We will also send you a monthly email that details your balance and other account activity. This is a transactional email that you will receive even if you are not subscribed to our marketing emails.
Bonus Rewards Promotions:
Every so often, we'll have special offers where you can earn bonus MJ$, like an additional 10%, 20% or 40% back. So if we are running a 50% back special offer, and you buy a regular-priced item for $100.00, you will receive MJ$10.00 in base points, and a bonus of MJ$40. These special offers may have a cap on how many bonus MJ$ you earn during the promotion, but you will always earn the base Reward Dollars. Make sure to check us out on our social channels for other ways to win some extra MJ$!
MJ$ on Gift Cards:
You don't get earn MJ$ when you buy a gift card, but you do get MJ$ when you spend a gift card. Sorry gift givers. You're welcome gift receivers.
Product Returns and MJ$:
If you return an item, we deduct the MJ$ earned on that item from your balance. If you used the MJ$ and your balance is less than deduction, then your refund is reduced by the difference.
Program Abuse:
The intent of the program is to provide our loyal customers with a way to buy great gear for less. Moosejaw reserves the right to remove any user from the program and zero out their MJ$ balance if Moosejaw determines that the user is abusing the program by buying for resale, attempting to game the program or any other reason at Moosejaw's sole discretion.
Are you Sure?
Our Rewards Program is completely FREE and easy to use.
By opting out, you forfeit all the Moosejaw Rewards Dollars your currently have in your account, which is basically throwing away free money. What would your grandmother say about that? If you're 100% sure, please click "OptOut" below.

Better & worse than last year's versionThe Carhartt Men's Rugged Flex Relaxed Fit Ripstop Cargo Work Short is probably the best cargo short made anywhere. They deserve a detailed review, especially because some significant changes were made between 2021 and 2022.
The first thing that you notice is that the 2022 edition is lighter, more flexible, and more comfortable than the heavier, stiffer canvas-style fabric of 2021. I prefer the 2022 fabric, but your mileage may vary. Even though the 2022 version is lighter, rated by Carhartt as "8 oz" versus "9.3 oz" (per square yard?) in 2021, it still qualifies as a sufficiently heavy-duty ripstop fabric in my book. Both versions have 7 stout belt loops in case you intend to carry cargo in your cargo short. Both versions have Cordura nylon trim in high wear areas, such as the top edge of the 2 back pockets and the lower part of the angled top edge of the 2 front slash pockets.
Another difference in the fabric is that the 2021 edition is 100% cotton canvas, while the 2022 edition is faster drying, more breathable, and slightly stretchy 59% cotton, 39% polyester, and 2% elastane (Spandex). I like the 2022 fabric better.
What I don't like in the 2022 edition are most changes in the extra pockets sewn onto the outside of the cargo pockets, which I call "mini-pockets." I like that the lone mini-pocket on the left side is slightly wider in 2022 so that it now accommodates my iPhone 12 Pro Max; however, that mini-pocket has been moved from the front edge of the cargo pocket to the back edge of the cargo pocket, which means that you can easily sit on your cellphone or whatever you put in the left mini-pocket, especially if you're sitting in a bucket seat or another curved seat. I wouldn't use it as a cellphone pocket anyhow because the top 2 inches of the iPhone 12 Pro Max sticks out, which makes a tempting target for a smash-and-grab thief who smashes your head while he steals your phone. A better cellphone pocket would be inside a cargo pocket, assuming that it would be located in the front part of the cargo hold. (Carhartt: Please consider it!)
On the outside of the right-hand cargo pocket, what was 3 mini-pockets in 2021 has been reduced to 2 mini-pockets in 2022. Basically, the back 2 right-hand mini-pockets from 2021 have been combined in 2022 to be a duplicate of the lone mini-pocket on the left-hand side of the 2022 edition. Again, it is on the back edge of the cargo pocket, so you can sit on your cellphone or whatever you put in the 2022 combined mini-pocket. You still have a slimmer mini-pocket that remains on the outside of the right cargo pocket along the front edge of the cargo pocket. It's nearly identical to the 2021 version except that the 2022 version is slightly skinnier -- not much of a difference, though, and neither version can fit a typical smartphone.
Both the 2021 & 2022 versions have hammer loops, but the loop has been moved from the left side to the right side in 2022. In addition, the 2021 hammer loop had a half twist that made it stick out from the left side of the short where it could possibly snag on something as you walk by, while the 2022 hammer loop is flat (no twist), horizontal, and lays nearly flat (slightly bulging out) on the right side of the short. The 2022 loop is unlikely to snag anything while walking, but it still could snag something while you're climbing or descending a ladder in close quarters -- very unlikely, in my humble opinion.
My biggest dislike is that the cargo pockets are somewhat smaller in 2022 in the same size of short (waist = 32 in my case). The width has been reduced by a quarter to half an inch, while the height has been reduced by half an inch on the shorter side of the cargo pocket and a full inch on the taller side of the cargo pocket. The flap and the top edge of the cargo pocket are slanted in both 2021 & 2022, which doesn't make sense to me, but in 2021 the slant was lower towards the back of the short, while in 2022 the slant is lower towards the front. (Go figure.) The slant is less in 2022, which is thankfully getting closer to my personal ideal of no slant.
I wholeheartedly approve of the snaps for the cargo-pocket flaps rather than Velcro closures as on other shorts & pants. Velcro can snag knit shirts worn untucked and shred other clothing in the washer or dryer. Thanks to Carhartt for the nice heavy-duty snaps instead of evil Velcro.
I demoted the 2022 short from 5 stars down to 4 stars because of (a) the smaller cargo pockets and (b) the unwelcome changes in the mini-pockets compared to the 2021 edition. I would have demoted them another notch lower except that I like the 2022 fabric better for the several reasons that are specified above.

Comfortable work shortsI bought these with the hope that they would be sturdy shorts, but wouldn’t stay damp in hot conditions like 100% cotton clothing. I wouldn’t say they’re a true relaxed fit though, go a size up for a looser fit.
NOTE: If your measurement falls between sizes, buy the larger size.

HOW to MEASURE NATURAL WAIST: Bend side to side and find the natural bend in your body; this is your natural waist. Please note this may not be the smallest point.
HIP / SEAT: Measure at the fullest part of your hips, approximately 8" below the natural waist.
INSEAM: Measure from your crotch down to the desired length on body. You may also measure pants that you currently own and like. Lay the garment flat and smooth out. To get the inseam length, measure on the front from the crotch point, along the seam, to the hem.
NOTES For best results measure over your undergarments. Use a cloth measuring tape.
If your measurement falls between sizes, buy the larger size.
