Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stainless for outside cooking is a no Brainer Bought this and it works great. There are a few improvements I would recommend. In the outside where it is windy a surround on the sides and rear would help the burners from going out on low flame

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It fits the bill Although I received only yesterday I gave it a five because it (1) arrived on time and in perfect condition. It works as it should right out of the box and it more robust than I thought it would be for the price. It should last many years for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I use the SST Explorer to cater on site events, camp and at the House. Plenty of heat for frying and searing. I leave it outside and it has stood up to salt air and weather for 6 months. I highly recommend this product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful product I bought my pioneer about two years ago and have been absolutely happy. I cook constantly on it while at my farm/hunting lease. I hate cooking inside my camper especially frying. This is the absolute answer to that and the quality is great. I also have the SG30 griddle too...great addition. We plan to purchase a pizza oven soon too. I wish I had bought the Explorer for the wind break but it's not bad. Recently my large family had a fish fry for our Easter get together. I used it to run two fish cooking pans. It did take a little while to get the oil to temperature but once it did, it did fine. I had several family members that were impressed with it and plan on buying their own. It is great for power outages too. I can't say enough good about it and would replace it with another in a heartbeat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for camping I bought this unit 2 years ago for camping. Cooking in the travel trailer isn't nearly as fun as cooking outside. My previous trailer had an outside barbecue and I wanted to expand what I could cook outside. Is difficult to get level, however I bought the adjustable screw down legs and that problem was solved. I have a family of 5 and often camp with extended family. So being able to quickly cook a ton of food is a must. The burners are very powerful and quickly boil large pots of water. Almost too fast, the first time I used it, I wasn't sure what to expect and almost boiled off the water before the pasta was done cooking. I have the griddle and the barbecue accessories and cook exclusively on this when camping. The travel trailer stove has never been used.

I guess the black knob on each burner are to control the heat. How precise are these? Are these like low, medium and high heat settings?

Asked by: Gill
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Fun Fact: I asked the CEO of Camp Chef why this product is called the 'Explorer' and he said 'Because when you use this stove, d'y'know what you're going to explore? Your TASTEBUDS!!!' (New Moosejaw LLC wholeheartedly denies the veracity and/or 'truth-osity' of said story). Anywhooo, you're absolutely correct, the black knob on each burner controls the heat, though they are not codified into a 'low, medium and high'. Essentially, they'll work just like the controls on your stove. You use the knobs to control how much fuel you're feeding the fire, and thus, how much heat/flame is coming out. Hope this helps you out! Hugsies.
