Rated 3 out of 5 by from tested on a 3 day hike Installing the cover for the mouthpiece was a difficult task because of so much friction. I lubed the silicon piece with spit and got it back on. When filled with water I found that the reservoir was really thick and the carry handle and the big cap were getting squeezed a lot in my backpack. I didn't measure my "water per sip" metric but it was a mouthful. The valve had no practical use for me. I had it in allways on position.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaks Horribly This bladder came with my CamelBak M.U.L.E. It leaks horribly. We've attempted to use it 3 different times and each time it is a struggle to get the cap on the right way. And even with the best attempt, it will still leak. And this slight leak is enough to cause the inside of your bag to be fairly wet. CamelBak - you really should compensate people due to this horrible design. The washer part of the lid doesn't even fit the right way to create a seal. It is too big to seal both on the bladder itself and for the lid. The picture shows me holding the washer even on one side which shows it too big on the other side. Extremely poor design.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely worthless Every single time I have used this since the day I got it it has either leaked or taken several times to line the threads to get a proper seal. The thread cap on this is absolutely horrendous and will add five to ten minutes to your out the door time every time you go out (this is valuable time when you have two leashed labradors ready to go). I learned the hard way the first few times with a soaked lower back- either up in the snow or out of drinking water in the desert.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lacks backward compatibility I enjoyed the earlier design better for the reasons already described above. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leaks Looks nice, but why is it hard to have a cap that seals? If you lean forward (touch toes, pick up something on ground), basically any time the bag is upside down it leaks...a lot. Disappointing for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I wanted I Decided to get a 3l reservoir for desert hikes and found this one to be reasonably priced for a basic system. No issues so far, works great for my small level of experience.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from inadequate for cycling I used this type of system today for the first time. It came as part of a backpack I ordered. I noticed I have to suck really hard on the tube (yes, I did squeeze the mouthpiece open), thus wasting extra body energy. The last 0,2 l or so would not come out at all, unless I put one hand on my back to squeeze the reservoir. Hygiene is also a problem, with no mechanism to dry it properly after cleaning (trapped water is likely to generate germs in no time). I decided not to use it for cycling again, will revert back to the 0,5 l bottles from the discounter, they give me a welcome excuse to stop at regular intervals to drink. I might consider using this thing for glider flying, where small amounts of redundant weight (=unusable liquid) are irrelevant. The instructions for use that come with it, are not worth mentioning. I did visit "for additional cleaning instructions" as you can see, but couldn't find any. Anyway, I bought the backpack for the sake of the backpack and regarded the water reservoir as a goodie. A mostly useless goodie though.

Is it possible to refill this reservoir by disconnecting the drinking tube at the bladder connection, and inserting a male connection from my Katadyn Hiker Pro water filter?

Asked by: Duke
Hiya, thanks for your question! Unfortunately, you can't disconnect the bladder port. The port is not removable, however, you can use an adapter to connect a tube from the bladder and a tube from the filter. Hope this helps!

Is the mouthpiece magnetic?

Asked by: RockandChalk
Hey there! The mouthpiece is not inherently magnetic. You can always get those little accessory pieces that snaps on a tube and your shoulder strap to help keep it stored in the perfect position!
