Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice concept, but... with some weak spots I bought the Nomad and did a 600 km test trip in a week. I placed the mounted Nomad on a weigh balance and loaded all the stuff that I needed. In the end, trailer+load was about 40 Kg (88 lbs). The trailer handles really well behind the bike and sometimes I even almost forgot that I had it attached. However, and even though I was really careful and riding slow on off-road, the wheel axle (https://burley.com/product/kit-axle-tube-assy-nomad/) bent and the wheels started touching the side panels, opening a hole on each side. The bottom fabric of the trailer started to give in, but it's not as bad as some other reviews describe it (yet). The front of the trailer is indeed low when you attach it to a 26" wheel bike. It's a minor issue when you ride mostly on paved roads as I did, but it would be nice to have some extra mounting options for 26" wheel bikes. As a conclusion, it's a nice concept, but it needs some upgrades. To start, a reinforced axle, a hard bottom to prevent the fabric from stretching until it starts touching the ground, and some mounting option to raise the front on 26" wheel bikes. Now the Nomad is stored because I have to find a way to staighten and reinforce the axle, and need to patch the holes on the fabric...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great trailer for touring.... Needs floor Love this trailer! Had to build a floor, just didn't trust putting weight on the cloth flooring. We used our Nomad to haul around our 10lb four legged friend on a three day bike tour.My only suggestion is a lightweight optional two piece removal flooring.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not good enough to be burley I have been a Burley trailer owner since 1988. The nomad rides well behind my bike. With a heavy load it is a bit rickety and unstable. My issue with the nomad is the low front end. I didn't have it for a month before the cover was damaged on the front end from hitting objects, bumps, curbs, snow and other stuff. So now I have gorilla tape to cover the holes. This is a poor design and not worthy of a Burley. I have pulled my other Burleys for 30 years, wind, rain, snow, or hail. My next cargo trailer will not be a Nomad. I've suffered 5 years with it and am unsatisfied to say the least.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design Flaw The thru axle has a desgin flaw. You will always need to travel with a 17mm wrench while the axle is hooked up. If I do not have the Nomad hooked up and I am just biking around town I will need to pack a wrench.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible design The idea is great. However, in real use, it was a total failure. The problem is that the front of the cargo bed is fabric and it is a point that frequently touches the ground. The result is that the bed tore out in less than two months of use. I have two Burley Flatbeds and they are great. I though the Nomad would be a good trailer to use for grocery shopping in a car-free household. As it is, it sits unusable in my garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better design Purchased nomad in 2004 used at Bike the Drive Chicago 2005. Had lots of rides. 2018 nomad appears to b sturdier design. Gonna have fun.

We have a Honda Gold Wing and I wondered if this could be used with it for long trips?

Asked by: Patty
All Burley trailers are designed for use behind a bicycle with a max suggested speed of 15 mph. They are not compatible with motorcycles.
