Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not good enough to be burley I have been a Burley trailer owner since 1988. The nomad rides well behind my bike. With a heavy load it is a bit rickety and unstable. My issue with the nomad is the low front end. I didn't have it for a month before the cover was damaged on the front end from hitting objects, bumps, curbs, snow and other stuff. So now I have gorilla tape to cover the holes. This is a poor design and not worthy of a Burley. I have pulled my other Burleys for 30 years, wind, rain, snow, or hail. My next cargo trailer will not be a Nomad. I've suffered 5 years with it and am unsatisfied to say the least.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design Flaw The thru axle has a desgin flaw. You will always need to travel with a 17mm wrench while the axle is hooked up. If I do not have the Nomad hooked up and I am just biking around town I will need to pack a wrench.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nomad The Nomad is an excellent product of Burley. I am delighted to have such a product that I can use for work, groceries and cycling short or long distance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible design The idea is great. However, in real use, it was a total failure. The problem is that the front of the cargo bed is fabric and it is a point that frequently touches the ground. The result is that the bed tore out in less than two months of use. I have two Burley Flatbeds and they are great. I though the Nomad would be a good trailer to use for grocery shopping in a car-free household. As it is, it sits unusable in my garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better design Purchased nomad in 2004 used at Bike the Drive Chicago 2005. Had lots of rides. 2018 nomad appears to b sturdier design. Gonna have fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great trailer I bought an older version back in 2014 and it was one of the best bike decisions I've ever made! I have not tried other trailers, but chose this one for the two-wheeled design and overall good reviews. The Nomad is also sufficiently spacious and has a flexible configuration (remove the cover or sides, let stuff hang off the back or sides, etc) so I can carry just about anything in it with the help of a few bungie cords. I like the internal pockets for things that I always keep with the trailer (e.g. spare tube, although I have never had a flat on the trailer despite several flats on my bike - knock on wood!). I mostly use it for running errands around town and occasionally taking the cats to the vet, so the two-wheeled design prevents any worries about the trailer tipping over. I also took the trailer bike-camping once when I was riding a semi-soft trail - the trailer and two wheels really helped distribute the weight so I wasn't digging into the mud the whole way. I can see how a one-wheeled design would be better for off-road biking as it can be hard to tell exactly where the wheels will track on this one, but that's not an issue for me. I've carried at least 80 lbs in it occasionally, and regularly >50 lbs, and while getting started or going uphill can be a chore, I don't really notice that I'm pulling a trailer otherwise. Only a couple minor issues with quality in the past 3.5 years: the plastic flag quickly faded to pale yellow so I've tied orange flagging tape to it to improve visibility. The cover has also faded a bit but is still visible, and I'm glad to see Burley offers replacement covers because that'll probably be the first thing to wear out (they have also changed the design/material of the cover since then). Still seems to be waterproof. I also had an issue with the wheels falling off initially - you will definitely want to check and adjust the tension in the axles on a regular basis. Bit tricky to get it tight enough for the wheel to stay on, but not so tight that you can't get the wheel on in the first place (I'm not sure if Burley has changed the axle design in the past few years). Overall, a great product and I expect it to last many more years with perhaps a replacement part or two - if it ever dies completely, I'm sure I'll replace it with another Nomad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Burley Nomad trailer I bought this trailer based on reviews/videos of other trailers. I couldn't be happier. Pulls great and plenty of room. I recommend putting a floor in it. Quarter-inch plywood. I also put grommets in the Front Bottom so that any water that got inside could drain out. I also added the rack. Highly recommend this trailer.

We have a Honda Gold Wing and I wondered if this could be used with it for long trips?

Asked by: Patty
All Burley trailers are designed for use behind a bicycle with a max suggested speed of 15 mph. They are not compatible with motorcycles.
