Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good skins, but bad tip conenctor is flawed Good skins overall, unless there is lots of snow. I like that they are lightweight. Used them 6-7 times now. They tend to get wet and snow can stick on the plush if warm weather but not a major issue. What i'm struggling with, however, is the tip connector. It is too narrow and too low on the skis so snow necessarily creep between the ski and skin depending on the snow and length of usage. Had to break trail yesterday and so much snow got in that I could not put the skin back on for a second hike up. I had to use two ski straps... which takes away the benefit of the skins I was looking for. I'm thinking of buying the Ascension tip connector to replace this one, but will have to cut about 4 inches of the upper part of the skins to make it fit... so not sure I have enough. I was hesitating between the STS or the Ascension... should have gone with the other ones..... :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Skins The bottom line is these are great skins. I have used the BD Mohair Mix in the past and I haven't noticed a performance difference. They pack down much smaller and and lighter..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tip connector is too narrow I have used these for one season with my Helio 116 skis (which by the way are awesome). Unfortunately they roll up from the sides and collect snow underneath. I've tried recutting them thinner and thinner in the tip but nothing works. The tip connector is just too narrow for wide skis/skins. Just make it wider, it will only cost a couple of grams. I had to go and buy a different pair of skins instead

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Light and packable, poor glue 4th pair of Ascension/BD skins in 18 years of touring, first I've ever been disappointed in. My first skins were Pomoca with weak glue, however it was a good learning experience on proper skin care on the trail and I have prided myself ever since on taking care of them and having zero skin failures since getting rid of the old skins and picking up some purple Ascensions. Each generation since have worked great, never an issue. When time to pick up some new skins I thought I'd venture away from straight nylon and try a mix. Better glide sounded nice and figured I could deal with any loss of grip, assumed glue would be just as phenomenal as all the other purple and orange skins have been. Found otherwise on my very first tour with these sadly. Top of first climb, edges of skin had peeled from from skis most of the length and all the way across on the tips. I muddled through about 10 tours on them last year being very careful- in the jacket after every climb to melt the snow from glue- a move reserved for emergencies in the past. Luckily no complete failures though it was always on the edge of coming fully off. First tour of this year yesterday, had my first full loss of skin, good thing I had some hockey tape in the pack to finish up the day. Not confidant in these anymore, they hardly stick to themselves at room temp. Back to the old back up orange skins and straining to pull them apart at each transition. Will definitely miss the packability of these, but not much else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good tool to earn your turns... Been using the UltraLite Mix STS for more then 30 days past winter and I am super happy with that skin. Had no problems at all. Used them on my Carbon Convert 180 and on my Helio 185, just changed the position of the back clip... Like the lightweight and pack volume very much. Never used the cheat sheet and it was not difficult to pull the skins apart. Only for storage in summer I put the sheet... First I thought the skin will wear out fast, but it doesn't show more use marks then any other lightweight skin I used before... even thought the tip piece will not last, but no damage on it yet... the skin never came off, even putting it on several times a day... will use that type of skin in the future... good tool for my guiding activities...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Skins!1 It's interesting to read the other reviews because I have nothing bad to say about these skins. Good grip. Good Glide. Stay on the ski. Glue is just sticky enough. They stuff easily into my jacket pocket. Very light. What more do you want?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from They're ok I've been using these on average four days a week for the season so I've got a pretty good grasp on the pros and cons. Pros: Light. These things make going uphill a dream (if they stick) Pack down really flat. It's awesome, I can put them in my jacket not look pregnant. They dry fast too because they're thin. Glide is smoother than Michael Jackson in his prime. Really increases your efficiency on long days. They climb great provided you set a reasonable skin track, which you should be doing anyway. Cons: Glue is terrible in all conditions except -11ish degrees. In cold conditions it's just held on by tension and in warm temps I'm carrying snow in between the skin and ski. Got a little rip in one skin on my first day. To be fair BD immediately offered to replace the set however it seemed like a waste to throw a pair away so I didn't accept. More rips as the season progressed and we've had a pretty good year so I don't think it's because I'm skinning on rocks. Bottom line: Probably not going to get more than one season out of these. Grip and glide is amazing but you really have to baby them and refresh the glue multiple times a season.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No issues yet... After putting ten or so days on these over the last month and a half or so, I've had none of the durability issues mentioned in the other reviews below. The glue seems fine, they pack down pretty thin for a skin cut for a ski that's 116mm at the waist, and though alignment with the Dynex trip connector is a little more finicky, I haven't had any issues with it. I would imagine that doing the install correctly on the newer trip connector is harder than the old style because it's much smaller overall--so light some candles, pour the wine, read the directions, and take your sweet time if you're doing the install yourself. I have had some issues with the rip strip (the nylon strip attached to the middle of the glue) moving away from the glue, which makes for some wrinkling on the base. It goes away with some smoothing, but my impression that these are not the Momix or Ascension--they do require some care and work for the weight benefits you get. Traction feels just as good as the Momix to me.
