Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very light weight, but not very effective The single layer fabric is effective at light rains, but any real rain and you are going to get wet. Honestly, I've found it so ineffective at keeping me dry that there are very few times I will use it stand-alone. I almost always use a tarp along with the bivy. If I know it's going to rain, I build a lean-to with the tarp and use it to shed off water while I sleep in the bivy under the tarp. I can see it as being useful in emergency and search and rescue situations due to it being so light and having some ability to protect from the elements, but for a reliable, stand-alone product, I say go for a thicker, more water resistant bivy. The extra weight is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Legit Bivy The first thing I did with this bivy was go snow camping with it. I went cross-country skiing, built a snow shelter, and spent two nights in the shelter with all my sleeping stuff in the bivy. Unfortunately, the snow did melt a little bit and drip onto part of my bivy the first night even though I was super careful with how smooth I made the walls and ceiling, but the bivy kept me completely dry and I didn't feel like I was trapped inside it at all. Super great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight, compact! Good addition to my kit for Mountain Rescue operations. So small and compact I don't really notice in my pack!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Lightweight Bivy!!! I ordered this to pair with a Thermarest Neo Air Pad and Sierra Designs Backcountry Bed. The pairing couldn't have been more perfect. The Bivy can be a little tight getting into but once in, I had no claustrophobic feeling or felt as though I was forced to lay in a set position. I found myself with plenty of room (I am 5'10" and around 189 pounds). Although I used this Bivy with a silnylon floor and a Mountain Laurel Designs Trailstar, I have absolutely no doubts that this bivy would hold up nicely in weather. The zippers work flawlessly and packs down super small. I highly recommend this bivy if you are looking for an ultralight bivy! Thumbs up!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Long night through a storm Well, my first ever time using a bivy sack and leaving the tent behind of course a harsh storm rolled in. I found that it was quite claustrophobic in there, but it certainly did keep me dry. I would've opted for the hooped bivy had I known how tight this would be, but it did do the job with very little weight or size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Bivy! I got the regular sized and it's amazing. It packs up smaller than a regular nalgene bottle and is as light as a feather. I can't believe it doesn't let in any water, yet breathes so well. It's amazing. Worth every penny for the ultralightweight adventurer. you can easy fit a thermarest and warm sleeping bag in there and have enough room in the morning to sit up and make a cup of coffee in your lap in the morning. great stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Minimalist fantasy Got this for an AT hike, and fell in love. It's super light in the pack, and does everything a bivy does for a fraction of the normal weight. I use this with a tarp over my head (MSR eWing), so I can leave it open. With the mesh or fully closed, it's pretty claustrophobic, so if you hate that, get the one with a pole for some head room. But when it's not buggy, I stick my head out and thank myself for the saved weight. The nanoshield is awesome stuff, soft, very light, you wouldn't think it sheds water but it really does.

hi what are the measurements of this, does it have a bug screen ? Is there any spacing around the head and shoulder area? thanks

Asked by: turbo
Hey Turbo - there is a mesh panel / bug shield at the entry (across the shoulders) that primarily serves as ventilation. As for spacing, this bivy is truly minimalist. Most people have it in a pack as an emergency option. For example, in case a trip goes sideways and you need a quick option to get you out of the elements but have no safe place to pitch proper shelter. The standard size is: 88" long, 33" wide
