Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable, light, but questionable stability. Took these poles out on a training hike at a near by state park. My first reaction while on he trail was “wow these bad boys are light”. To add to the great weighting, the handles or grips were also impressive and comfortable for the price. Where I was a little less impressed was with the stability of the poles, I believe they have a little too much bend. Although the locking system stayed perfectly in place, I felt if a situation arose that caused me to put a majority of my weight on the poles they would not hold up. Either breaking completely or bending at a weak spot. Overall the poles are great for the price and I hope I near need to put all my weight on these bad boys. I would buy them again, especially from moose jaw!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked Flawlessly The first test for these poles, Mt. St. Helens last Tuesday. When we hit the slushy snow, they were invaluable. They will be used again next month on Mt. Adams.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid buy I put 2000 trail miles on my last pair of black diamond poles before getting hit by a cyclist and bending them. This new set is excellent with added features. I highly recommend this brand!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value Nothing special, these poles just work. I have only used them snowshoeing and haven't had any problems. They are simple and came with snow baskets. Other than that they are not the lightest pole but for under $100 you can't go wrong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality trekking poles Nice trekking poles. They are a little on the heavy side, but I like the quick release adjustments to easily collapse or expand. All things considered, I think these are a great option for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great features and strong, but lack durability I bought these 2 years ago and used them to hike 100 miles at philmont, very light and nice grips, but on day 3 my right pole was bent due to it slipping in a crack while I was hiking, while still bent was able to hold up for the next 8 days

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best performing trekking poles. I have used these in snowy, icy, rainy, muddy, and regular conditions. They are light weight, the grips and strap are comfortable, and the materials are very shocked absorbent. Of all the trekking poles I have ever purchased, these are by far the best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hiking pole convert I received these poles years ago as a gift. Being of a certain age, a friend and I shared them this fall when we climbed Camels Hump. Mine saved my butt a few times! My daughter borrowed them this summer to climb Mt. Katahdin. She said she would never again climb without them so guess what Santa is bringing her? They shipped so quickly--I was stunned. Thank you!

Are these strong enough to be used as ski poles?

Asked by: Fritz
Hi Fritz, thanks for your question! Some poles include snow baskets (or they are available to purchase as an accessory) for snowshoeing or winter hiking, and although you *could* use trekking poles as ski poles, its not recommended. This is because you will put way more stress on them while skiing than hiking. This may damage the poles and cause them to break down. Plus, ski poles are not meant to be collapsible so the pole might collapse with enough pressure on a hard push. Hope this helps!
