Rated 4 out of 5 by from air conditioning Perfect mid layer; oddly tight around the waist at the bottom but perhaps there is a tech reason for this

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm to 40f Bought this for a winter camping trip in the North Georgia mountains. When I pulled it out of the package I thought I was doomed because it was so light. But sure enough, hanging around the campsite I was perfect at about 35F. I'm 6ft 150 pounds and bought a small. It is fitting but not tight even over a base and mid layer. Also love the hood which I find surprisingly handy when I don't have a hat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great update to my Access Hybrid Like another reviewer, I purchased this as an update to my Access Hybrid. I really like the AH, but the venting side panels can be a blessing and a curse. On days when I'm working up a sweat they are great, keeping me cool by allowing airflow while still blocking some of the wind. When I throw the jacket on to run errands or head to work though, the side panels can make for a chilly trip. The Hot Forge Hybrid is definitely warmer (60g PL Gold + PL Down blend in Hot Forge Hybrid , 65g PL Silver in Access Hybrid) and also blocks more wind (obviously). The fit is the same, which is great for layering. It fits good over just an NTS 250 zip, or over that and an R3 on colder days. I will be testing the Hot Forge Hybrid with a light shell as my light weight winter kit. The Hot Forge Hybrid appears to have sewn-through baffles in the midsection, which should allow for some air flow (untested, speculative).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Comfortable I bought this to be a mid-layer and keep my warm days when the temperature drops, and it's working out beautifully. It is super comfortable, warm, moves over/under other layers really nicely. Fit: 6'3", 190lbs, I bought a medium as I wanted something a little fitted and it's great...except a little snug around the hips. Not a big deal, guess I can't grow very much. Only con is that the hood volume adjust pull came out with the first pull. Not representative of my experience with other BD products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket for winter I'm huge fan of BD, and this jacket is perfect for any seasons; I live in Taipei, where it gets wet & cold during winter, I have no problem wearing just a t-shirt inside this jacket and go out into the weather; it is not too bulky and fits well. I'm 5'9, approx.170 lbs, and size M is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this jacket is fantastic. It is really hard to believe that something this light weight is as warm as it is. The weight is great, there is no weight. I would recommend this hoody as a best buy to everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Insulation I probably wear this jacket more than any other in the winter. Anything from 0ºC & sunny to 15ºC and lightly raining. I wish the hood had more adjustment and the zipper was the same great zipper on other BD jackets, but I guess that was a compromise for size & weight.

Is this jacket windproof?

Asked by: Daniel
Thanks for the question! The Hot Forge Hybrid Hoody is not windproof, but is wind resistant :)

will this jacket be warm enough in Montana. Considering temperatures get into the negative degree.

Asked by: Ivan
Thanks for the question! Since the Hot Forge Hybrid Hoody is made from 70% DWR-treated goose down and 30% PrimaLoft synthetic fibers, it will be warm. I would probably wear a windproof shell over it during those negative temperatures for added protection. One suggestion is the Black Diamond Recon Shell. Hope this helps!

is this jacket gortex? how much insulation?

Asked by: lumberjack hiker
Hiya lumberjack hiker, thanks for your question! This jacket has a PrimaLoft Gold Insulation Down Blend, made from 70% DWR-treated goose down and 30% PrimaLoft synthetic fibers. It is not made with Gore-Tex brand, but it has a DWR (Durable Water Resistant) treatment. Hope this helps!
