Last updated January 1st, 2020
Opting-in to Moosejaw Rewards:
All users must accept these terms and conditions and create an account with Moosejaw to opt-in to the program and earn, accrue, retain and redeem Moosejaw Reward Dollars (MJ$). The program is FREE to join and membership is ongoing until or unless the user requests to be removed or is removed due to abuse of the program. Users can opt-in to the program while checking out on Moosejaw.com or at one of our stores or at any time within 30 days of purchase to accrue the MJ$ earned on that purchase. Once opted-in to the program, MJ$ will earn and accrue for redemption as described below until the MJ$ expire or the user leaves the program.
All information collected and used to facilitate the Moosejaw Rewards program is directly related to the program's ability to provide value to the customer. A customer opting-in to the Moosejaw Rewards program is a separate action from establishing a user profile as a result of making a purchase.
The program opt-in requirement was added on August 6th, 2019. Existing program members prior to that date must still formally opt-in and accept the terms and conditions to continue to retain, earn and redeem MJ$. Pre-existing program members that fail to opt-in prior to June 28, 2020 will be removed from the program, and any unused MJ$ will be voided. We really, really don't want to that to happen, so please opt-in or we'll feel terrible.
Leaving Moosejaw Rewards Program:
You may choose to leave the Moosejaw Rewards program at any time by logging in and clicking on the “Opt out Rewards Program” link within the My Account Summary page, Email, calling 877-MOOSEJAW (877-666-7352) or in-store with help from our employees. All items we sell are eligible with the exception of gift cards or other items specifically noted. Full-priced items earn 10% back while discounted items earn 2.5%. "Discounted items" includes items on sale or discounted via coupon code or use of MJ$. You do not earn MJ$ for shipping or tax charges, only from the item value. MJ$ expire two years after earning and are redeemed on a first-in, first out basis (in other words, we always use your oldest MJ$ that are closest to expiration).

On Moosejaw.com, just sign-in on any page to see your available balance. Once signed in, you will see your available MJ$ and maximum that can be redeemed in the payment section of the checkout process. In stores, provide the email address attached to your account to learn your balance and apply to your purchase. We will also send you a monthly email that details your balance and other account activity. This is a transactional email that you will receive even if you are not subscribed to our marketing emails.
Bonus Rewards Promotions:
Every so often, we'll have special offers where you can earn bonus MJ$, like an additional 10%, 20% or 40% back. So if we are running a 50% back special offer, and you buy a regular-priced item for $100.00, you will receive MJ$10.00 in base points, and a bonus of MJ$40. These special offers may have a cap on how many bonus MJ$ you earn during the promotion, but you will always earn the base Reward Dollars. Make sure to check us out on our social channels for other ways to win some extra MJ$!
MJ$ on Gift Cards:
You don't get earn MJ$ when you buy a gift card, but you do get MJ$ when you spend a gift card. Sorry gift givers. You're welcome gift receivers.

My go to Ice tools for the Ouray ice park! Mixed, vertical ice, or even steep approaches. These tools do it all. They are light, protect your knuckles, you never lose them in the snow, and they are photogenic! Thanks black diamond.

One tool for everything.I like simplicity. One set for dry-tooling and all sorts of Ice climbig. That's BD Fuel. They are not ideal on low angle Ice, but that doesn't matter - my bodyweight is on my crampons anyways. The curve of the shaft gives me feeling of safety when hooking. Swing is specific to more agresive tools as I assumed. I took me 2 days to get used to that. I haven't found any downsides for dry-tooling. They are strong and predictable.

Swing is kingFelt great swinging these and the angle ratio is really good. Pumpels & grip are also placed pretty well. Get rowdy

Excellent for ice and mixedPicked up a pair last season to compliment my Cobras. Took some mileage to adjust to the different swing on ice, but so far loving them on both mixed and pure ice. As stated previously, they feel like what you want out of a winter tool - solid, burly and can stand up to abuse. Adding the spacers to the grip allows for proper adjustments on hand size, which I find nice depending of temps/glove thickness. Nicely balanced overall, and really enjoying them.

There are great mixed climbing tools.I bought these tools specifically for mixed and dry tooling climbing. They are among the best for that. They are stiff and have excellent reach. It is easy to move your hands up and down the shafts. The mixed climbing picks are strong and reliable. They are not the best for pure ice climbing, however, and I prefer to climb ice with the cobras.

Good for the hard stuffI've been using the Fuel for 3-4 seasons now. Climbing up to WI7 and M10 with them. They are as good as any other tool for hard climbing but have substandard performance on lower angle ice. These are not the right tools for you if you're climbing anything other than hard mixed or vertical ice, they just don't penetrate hard ice well when the angle is low. I miss the hammer, and my tools are really banged up on the back from placing pound-in gear, but they do work fine for pounding anything other than pins. Also, you want to use the Ice+ pick and it must be de-tuned before it works well. I just expect some pick bounce until approximately 1/8-1/4 inch of metal is removed. Just stay close to the factory shape when sharpening your picks and you can't go wrong. The grip on the Fuel is awesome.

First Time UseJust bought the Fuels and Vipers and got out this week on some thin ice and mixed routes in NH. Fuels worked well on the ice and rock. The thin ice caused some tip damage from contact with rock underneath but easy to file back into a sharp point. A gentler swing would have helped avoid tip damage. The grips allowed for good sticks when reaching up over bulges.

Great tools…with the right picksI’ve been using the Fuels for a couple of years now and while they are similar to Nomics they are much stiffer and better balanced (in my opinion) which makes for an excellent mixed climbing tool. However, these tools suffer a bit on ice due to the stock pics. They are fine if you are climbing soft or aerated ice but they are terrible on hard and brittle ice like we get here in the Adirondacks and New England. With the stock picks (or any other BD picks for that matter) you’ll get pick bounce, shattered ice, and difficulty landing good sticks and then once you finally get a good stick they become extremely difficult to remove. None of this is good when you’re getting pumped out several pitches up on a delicate NEI 5+ column! I’ve been ice climbing for over 20 years and this has always been the case with BD picks (the Cobras are my favorite tool for alpine climbing and they also suffer when using stock picks). You can try adjusting your swing but the real solution is to re-shape the picks. Reprofiling the first 2” of the pick will dramatically improve performance in hard ice conditions and transform your Fuels into awesome tools on par with anything else out there. Geometry is everything with pick performance (hint: just making it pointier doesn’t make it better!) and once BD figures that out they’ll start selling many more ice tools.
The Fuels have become my primary tool for difficult ice and mixed climbs. Good balance, solid construction, and great performance on ice once you dial in the picks.
