Rated 3 out of 5 by from Work well for most snow. I have bought several iterations of these skins. I put 50 or more days on my latest pair with average uphill around 3000'. The new tip attachments leaves a gap that allows snow to build up under the skin. This was only a real problem a couple of times breaking trail in deep snow but I never had a problem with the older, fold-over system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great skins. The skins are great: they are lighter and more flexible than the previous model. They glide well. But the storage bag is cheap (low quality); it started comig undone after 3 uses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from STS skins work great. The STS skins have worked well on Mt Hood. They performed well in the wet heavy snow and glided easily through the soft powered. When I purchased these I wasn’t sure if they would work for everything I wanted them to do but they have been great. Would definitely recommend them for an all around skin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not like the old solid color version I've used these skins a few times and they work well enough, but not as well as the older versions. First, the stuff bag is poorly made with unhemmed edges that shed fine threads of nylon that get stuck on the skins. Second, the glue is not what it used to be. Used to be that you'd do anything to avoid glue to glue contact, but with these skins it's not that big a deal. That translates into less than ideal sticking to the skis. I find significant snow built up between the ski and skin in the front. Finally, the glue leaves a residue on the ski which is slightly sticky. On the plus side the mesh designed to be put between the skins when stored is no longer a woven product and should remain intact throughout its use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and Effective I bought my first pair 10 seasons ago and used them over and over, re-glued them, re-attached pieces when needed, and they kept on climbing well for me. I finally bought a new set of super wide skis so I needed a new pair. I was reluctant at first as the tip is quite a bit wider on my new skis but with the adjustable tip cable, it was no problem for my new skis. The glue seems fine, no problems, screws all work just fine as well when I assembled the tip. Overall, a great new set up and they climb great in a variety of snow conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for the up Easy to trim to size. The tip loop is adjustable and bomber and doesn’t slip off.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Skins, kind of a pain to fit Screwing in the tip loop is quite a pain. They are the best value for the money in my opinion for skins, just suck to assemble. Also the skin cutting tool is just OK.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fine skins, require a drill, storage bag is trash 2 of my friends broke screws while trying to set up the toe pieces, making the skins unusable. The included screws are extremely brittle and not strong enough to cut through the skin without breaking. Knowing this in advance, I was able to pre-drill holes through the skins and then put in the screws without breaking them. I'm not sure how you would set these up without a drill. The included storage sack will damage your skins. On the 2nd day of use, it began unraveling into tiny fibers, which will permanently stick to the glue and reduce the lifespan of the skins. The skins themselves work fine.

I know these come in various lengths... what length are these skins?

Asked by: jaronamo
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! I went straight to Black Diamond for the specs on this one. Their sweet rep Scott informed me that these nylons will be good for skis from 195 all the way up to 200. Hope this helped you out!
