Rated 3 out of 5 by from Work well for most snow. I have bought several iterations of these skins. I put 50 or more days on my latest pair with average uphill around 3000'. The new tip attachments leaves a gap that allows snow to build up under the skin. This was only a real problem a couple of times breaking trail in deep snow but I never had a problem with the older, fold-over system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great skins. The skins are great: they are lighter and more flexible than the previous model. They glide well. But the storage bag is cheap (low quality); it started comig undone after 3 uses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from STS skins work great. The STS skins have worked well on Mt Hood. They performed well in the wet heavy snow and glided easily through the soft powered. When I purchased these I wasn’t sure if they would work for everything I wanted them to do but they have been great. Would definitely recommend them for an all around skin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and Effective I bought my first pair 10 seasons ago and used them over and over, re-glued them, re-attached pieces when needed, and they kept on climbing well for me. I finally bought a new set of super wide skis so I needed a new pair. I was reluctant at first as the tip is quite a bit wider on my new skis but with the adjustable tip cable, it was no problem for my new skis. The glue seems fine, no problems, screws all work just fine as well when I assembled the tip. Overall, a great new set up and they climb great in a variety of snow conditions.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fine skins, require a drill, storage bag is trash 2 of my friends broke screws while trying to set up the toe pieces, making the skins unusable. The included screws are extremely brittle and not strong enough to cut through the skin without breaking. Knowing this in advance, I was able to pre-drill holes through the skins and then put in the screws without breaking them. I'm not sure how you would set these up without a drill. The included storage sack will damage your skins. On the 2nd day of use, it began unraveling into tiny fibers, which will permanently stick to the glue and reduce the lifespan of the skins. The skins themselves work fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Experiences with These Skins I purchased these skins due to my history with Ascension. I've had 3 pairs of the original Ascension skins and were psyched on them so I figured I'd give these a whip. My last pair of skins blew out completely in the middle of nowhere giving me an experience to forget. Time for something new. First off I read all the reviews on this site, both positive and negative, and had some trepidations ordering them. Sure it's easy to rave about them yet I wanted to know what negative things were going on and what I could anticipate to go awry for me. Installation of the skip tip piece was simple and straight forward. Trimming the skins as well. Perhaps this is because I have a lot of experience fiddling around and modding out gear. Who knows yet now probs here. I did not that 2 of the 6 screws that I "broke off" as suggested with needle nose pliers resulted in a less-than-flush end that was sharp requiring a little filing to clean em up. Again no worries. I also paid close attention to the amount of glue on the skins. Many reviews talked about not enough glue. I didn't see this as a problem. Plenty there. I compared the hair on these skins to my 5 other pairs for consistency, thickness, glide (with my hand) and pull (again with my hand). I did notice immediately that they didn't' seem to grab my hand as much as the older versions. More on this later. Time to rack up and head out. As I started skinning up a nice and steep skin track, the skins worked fine. Temps were in the single digits and the snow was crisp and cold. Peaking out and skiing down, I knew the real test was about to occur. Once I saddled them back on and started climbing out of our NE facing system, the skins climbed well until the track got really steep. Then there was some sliding and they didn't bite quite as well as I had hoped. Perhaps this is in part to technique, yet I think it was more about the hair on them, the cold temps, and the way the snow packed on the skin up. Overall Skins worked well with a little slipping when the going got steep. Glue worked after many skins out never failing. Tip and tail stayed tight. I like em and am stoked to have em.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Skins great storage sack needs work Got a new pair of skins this fall to fit new skis. Like the skins easy to use and perm well. Disapointed with storage sack. Flimsy nylon costruction with stitching that came apart after 6 trips. This is the fifth set of Bd skins I've had with no issues with carry bags. Please consider a different design/supplier.
