how is the electricity generated? how can it recharge your phone?

Asked by: rugdoc1
Hiya, thanks for your question! The CookStove is battery powered with 30 hours per charge. This product does not charge your phone, however, the BioLite CampStove does. CampStove energy is generated from burning wood. It can power most USB-chargeable devices including smart phones. You can view the CampStove here: http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_BioLite-CampStove-with-FlexLight_10311557_10208_10000001_-1_ Hope this helps!

I've seen many reviews elsewhere that the top of the teal fan component melts, and biolite doesn't stand behind this product unless purchased directly from them. Do you know if this issue has been fixed? I'd like to give it a shot if so.

Asked by: TE54698
Hey there TE54698! Great question! According to Biolite, all of the instances of the fan melting were caused by the power module being downwind of the burn chamber and/or the stove being left unattended. This product has since been discontinued by Biolite, but should still work properly if it isn't positioned in high winds in such a way that the power module is downwind of the burn chamber, and, of course, isn't left unattended. Hope this helps!

Is the probe in this model made of copper? I've read reviews for the Biolite Campstove 2 that say that model has an aluminum probe that melts. Seems aluminum has a much lower melting temperature than copper.

Asked by: Suza
Thanks for the question! The Cookstove has a copper probe. The new Campstove 2 that was released in March has a new probe and there were some melting issues - about 1 out of every 1,000, and since then BioLite has corrected that problem with the manufacturer. Hope this helps!
