The Big Agnes Q Core SLX Sleeping Pad is a superlight sleeping pad for 3 season backpacking. Nice and light when you stuff it in your pack and incredibly cushy when it's time to lay down for sleep. Sleeping on the ground is a whole new ball game when it comes to the quilted top with offset I-Beams, providing support and cushion. When it comes to colder nights in camp, the insulation and heat reflective technology can't be seen, but they can certainly be felt and appreciated. You'll know because instead of shivering on the cold ground, you'll be snoozing like a baby.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best weight to comfort ratio out there! I'm a side sleeper, and despite my best efforts to adjust for back country sleeping, I cannot sleep any other way. The Q core has an incredible near 3 inches of air cushion and a weight coming in at just over a pound. It packs small, is light, but most of all is extreemely comfortable. I ordered the long size as i am rather tall. I have only had the pad for a few weeks, so i can comment on durability, but even the trade off for durability and comfort/weight in this case would be worth it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's just. so. squeaky I wanted to love this sleeping pad. It's light, compact, and easy to pack. It's pretty comfortable for a small and lightweight pad, but every time I moved at night, it made enough noise to wake up both me and anyone sleeping in a tent near me. It became a running joke on a recent backpacking trip with a few friends, so unless I want to alienate all of my camping buddies, I'm going to have to find a new pad.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Buy this only if you love sleeping on hard ground I have owned this pad for about a year. I have taken it out on two trips lasting a total of 10 days. I have slept on hard ground for 10 days. I am a side sleeper and the prospect of my shoulder and hips not digging into the ground every night was enticing. When I first opened it I thought "Hmmm, this feels a little flimsy. But I paid over $160 for this, BA makes good tents, this must be just paranoia". So I take it out on my first trip and in the middle of the night I am sleeping on hard ground. Since I camp off-trail in the desert a lot I thought that I must have not cleaned up my campsite sufficiently well. Unfortunately the leak was very slow, I was not able to locate it without having to sacrifice a lot of the water I was carrying, so I had four more uncomfortable nights to look forward to. When I came back home I found the leak... on the front side of the pad. I chalked it up to bad luck, patched it, and forgot about it. Fast forward another 10-11 months during which I was using a Therm-a-Rest Trekker without a hint of a problem. A few weeks ago I decide to take the BA for another spin. As a precaution I pull it out, inflate, load with some weight and let it sit overnight. No issues, so I take it for another spin in the desert. First night... I wake up in the middle of the night on the ground. I send a few choice words BA's way and try to make the best of it. In the morning I spend time hunting for leaks on the backside of the pad and am unable to find any. I am once again faced with the prospect of four uncomfortable nights. Today I soaked the pad in soapy water and found THREE holes. All on the front side of the pad, all in the bottom of the crevices that make up the waffle surface. Since these areas are heavily recessed they are protected from pokes. The most logical conclusion seems to be that this is some type of stress driven tears. See images below.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it! I purchased this pad to use on a 2 night Grand Canyon rafting trip. It didn’t disappoint and I slept comfortably with this wider sleeping pad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Convenient We bought the Double-Wide Q Core SLX and it has been the perfect sleeping pad for us. It travels well and doesn't take up much space in our car, the set up is super quick and it stashes away just as easily when we have to pack up. Bonus that it works perfectly with our Double-Wide sleeping bag, never going back to the foldable sleeping pads!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice pad! Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but seems well made, nice and soft, seemed thinner than advertised but time will tell if it's comfortable for longer trips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleeping on Air! This pad is a godsend for those who find themselves getting sore throughout the night. Particularly my hips, as the cold hard ground makes them ache and wakes me up, as I was sleeping on a standard Thermarest pad. However, this pad has you sleeping on air and off the ground. Best purchase I ever made for a great night's sleep in the backcountry!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cushy but cold This pad packs super small and is extremely cushy, but I consistently freeze on nights in the 40s! I love it...So long as the low is 64.

BA claims this is an insulted pad but I'm not seeing any R-values reported . What exactly is the insulating system and how is the temperature determined?

Asked by: Brian
Thanks for the question! Big Agnes does not have an R-Value for this pad. Instead, they use a temperature rating system - which is 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, there is an internal layer of synthetic insulation. I hope this helps!

It's hard to see in the picture, is this pad waffle construction or vertical? They sell the one on Amazon under the same name QCore SLX in the same color but it has the waffle pattern on it. Is this an older model maybe?

Asked by: JoyC
Thanks for the question! The Q Core SLX Sleeping Pads we have in stock currently are from Spring 2017 and will have vertical construction. Sorry for the confusion!

If I order big Agnes Q core SLX will the blower up bag come with it

Asked by: James
Hiya James, thanks for your question! A pump is not included with this sleeping pad.The manufacturer recommends manually inflating this sleeping pad, however, there is a pad pump bag available (sold separately). Im looking for something like this (the petite size) , but with no insulation (so no noise/crinkling).Do you make one? It is for indoor use Thank you, deb B

Asked by: debb
Hey, Debb The only thing we make here at Moosejaw are smiles and rainbows. Yes, rainbows are a direct result of our science! But, while we don't make any of the pads, we do offer quite a bit of brands that have the art of sleeping mattresses nailed. The Q Core SLX is one of the quieter ones out on the market. Have you had experience with it yourself? I had a Big Agnes Air Core and THAT made me enemy number one among any people who were sleeping within 50 feet of me. The Q Core SLX, however, didn't cause anyone to react. Ugly fact is, on all air mattresses, there will always be a noise when you shuffle or adjust around on it. Even if you have a sheet on it. Just the matter of the baffles rubbing against each other. You could always shoot for foam pads, but if you are looking for comfort, some noise will be a fact of life.

I was looking to purchase this for a BA Skeeter 20 long bag and was wondering if the 25" wide long pad would work with the sleeping bags integrated pad holder or if I should stick with the 20" long? Thanks in advance

Asked by: EPettit
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Did you know that Skeeter was the only 'Muppet Baby' that we never got to see grown-up? It still haunts me to this day. Anywhooo....to your question: So, I just pulled this from our warehouse and gave it the old ocular pat-down. So, the REM Pad Sleeve will hold the 20" pad, but that would be about it. Without any pad in there, the opening runs a length of about 21-22"....so trying to get a 25" pad would not work. Stick with the 20" and you'll be fine! Hope this helps you out! Hugsies.
