Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice paddle! I bought this for a trip to the Boundary Waters. It could not have performed better. As an added bonus, it is also beautiful to look at. I would definitely buy again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Paddle! We’ve been using paddles like this for the past year. When it was time for a new paddle, the choice to get another Bending Branches paddle was obvious. They work exceptionally well on flat water. We haven’t used them other than on a lake.

I am 6'1" and my wife is 5'7" Which two lengths are best?

Asked by: Rudolph
Thanks for the question! The Paddle size will actually depend on your torso length. Here is a simple way to measure. Sit up straight on a flat chair, measure the distance from the surface of the chair between your legs to your nose, then follow the chart below: 26" torso = size 48 paddle 28" torso = size 50 paddle 30" torso = size 52 paddle 32" torso = size 54 paddle 34" torso = size 56 paddle Hope this helps!

SIZING NOTES

General Rule: the shortest paddle that allows you to properly reach the water is best. In the middle of their stroke, most paddlers hold the grip so that their top hand is about the height of their nose, and the point where the paddle blade meets the shaft (the throat) is at the water line.

Measuring the length of your torso is a good way to approximate that geometry. Here's a simple and accurate way to meaure your torso.
   • Sit up straight, don't slouch, on a flat chair.
   • Measure the distance from the surface of the chair between your legs to your nose.
   • Then follow the chart above.

An easy way to measure in the field is to place the grip of the paddle between your legs while sitting. Mark where the shoulder of the blade (the point where the blade meets the shaft) hits you. The shoulder on a straight shaft should be at your forehead; the shoulder on a bent shaft should be at your nose.
