On a backpacking trip, out of the box, straight up the trail with a 60# plus pack. No blisters, zero. Highly recommend if they vit your feet. My feet run a bit wide but these work great for me.

Excellent leather- won’t scuff or abrade! Strong laces! Great tread and stable foundation on bottom for hiking. Wide toe box and sharp looking too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent shoes First off Moosejaw.com has been an awesome site to work with and explore! Now the Asolo boots. Very different from my Salomon boots I normally buy. Much thicker sole so I feel higher off the ground. Very responsive and supportive soles while carrying help loads especially on rocky terrain. I’m very impressed with this shoe so far. It took a few weeks of tracking around in them to break them in but now they have relaxed and feel really nice. I love the forward rocking motion they initiate while walking. It so intuitive. Lacing hardware abd laces are very sturdy and are easy to tighten if needed. I will update in a few months if can.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total failure after 1 year 6 months I bought a pair of Asolo TPS 520's a few years back and they only lasted a year and 6 months. The tread began peeling off of the upper. Complete failure of the glue used to bond the tread. Felt like a loser having my hiking partners watch me superglue my expensive boots back together everyday. I do not recommend this product!

do you recommend putting a waterproofing or some type of oil or silicone etc finish on the boots before the start of heavy use?

Thanks for the question! Altho the lining is Gore-Tex waterproof, I personally would still apply a protectant to the upper since it is full-grain leather. Especially if I was doing some heavy work. My suggestion would be the Nikwax Fabric and Leather Proof. I included a link below. Is it possible to re-sole these boots after the original factory soles wear out ?

Hey there, thanks for your question. Most Asolo boots including the TPS 520 are resoleable. Through the resoling procedure they are able to replace the outsole, midsole, toe cap or rubber rand, even the laces and footbeds. It all depends on how much there is to do on each boot but a lot of the times what you get back is better than new. Do these boots have any insulation?  In what temperature range are they rated to keep your feet warm and comfortable?

Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Ah, the wonderful 'temperature' question. So, for the most part, shoes are not temperature rated because there are several factors that affect the temp. This includes wind, humidity, activity level....not to mention the fact that warmth is a subjective thing. That is, it's unique to every person. What's warm to me might be freezing to another. BUT, have no fear...while there is no industry standard for measuring the temperature of shoest, we can still help you out!! So, while there isn't any additional insulation, the extra padding inside (along with the leather) really helps with the warmth. So while I wouldn't get these for a trip to Antarctica, I'd be fine with them for shoveling my walk, hiking down the trail or even backpacking! Hope this helps you out!! Hugsies.
