The Arc'teryx Women's Beta SL Jacket is an emergency rain jacket for hiking and backpacking. If you're going for a hike and the weather is unstable, or looking to lighten your load, the Beta SL is up to the challenge. The SL stands for super lightweight, to provide you with protection in unexpected rain or snow. The jacket packs down nice and small, taking up less space in your pack until you need it. The Gore-Tex PacLite sheds the wet stuff and blocks wind as well. A durable water repellent finish allows water to bead up on the surface and roll off, without soaking in. The trim fit prevents fabric from flapping in the breeze and pockets are set high, staying out of the way of your hipbelt while remaining usable. Tuck a trail snack into your pocket and rack up the miles.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent fit & performance! Love the flexibility and fit of this jacket. I am 5'5", 120lbs and the small fits perfectly. The wrist straps and hood cinch allow you to customize the fit and the jacket moves with you beautifully. The blue color is bright and happy and the image is true to the actual color. I've worn it twice in light rain and I am taking it backpacking through the Alps this summer to put it to the test. It rolls up nicely and is light and compact. Great jacket!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Arctleryx always great quality! After buying a different brand rain jacket said to be waterproof (but not Goretex), I got soaked all three times I wore it while traveling. This one truly waterproof, light weight, packable, excellent features. Only cons are price and lack of pit zips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Packable I debated for several months before splurging on this jacket. It’s well worth the money. Packable, waterproof, the color is very pretty! It will get a lot of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps you dry I bought this a month ago and have worn it in rain and snow. Does a great job blocking the wind and keeps me totally dry! Bought a size up so I could fit other layers underneath and it still fits great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean lines; Great fit I was looking for a lightweight rain jacket for hiking, XC skiing, and just walking around town and am super happy I found the Beta SL. I love the fit, which is flattering and not bulky yet allows for some layering (like a lightweight puffy) underneath. I am 5'7" and 125lb with long arms and the size small fits perfectly. I especially appreciate the sleeves being long enough and the purple Reign color is beautiful. I love the hood on this jacket too—it's not too tight fitting or restrictive. As to the actual purpose of the garment, if you have owned anything Arcteryx it goes without saying that their goretex seam sealed garments will always keep you dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features I bought this on Black Friday. The price is reasonable. It really is wind and water proof. And black color looks really cool and also very suit for women's figure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great jacket, but... I bought this jacket four weeks ago and did put it to good test during my trip to Peru. As promised, it is a very light jacket, water and wind proof. But, it is not lady friendly. The very stiff, Velcro straps on the wrist proved to be too sharp and too hard when, ehm, going to the bathroom. They are placed in such a position that I kept on scratching to the point of bleeding the side of my leg, kinda firgetting about this velcro enemy each time. Im guessing a guy designed this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent jacket Jacket def runs small but it fits like a glove and is an excellent rain coat. I hope to have it for 20 years!

Is the jacket roomy enough for a (Northface) liner jacket? Any inside pockets?

Asked by: Carol
Thanks for the question! I actually own this jacket. I have my normal size and am able to wear an Atom LT underneath - although it is a bit snug. Since the Beta SL has a "slim fit", I would suggest going one size up to accommodate for your layers. If you think you will wear the Beta by itself most of the time, then I would stick with your normal size. Unfortunately, there are no interior pockets :(

How long is the jacket??? In inches

Asked by: rosie
Hey Rosie! Thanks for the question! Length can vary from size to size, so I went with a medium to get a baseline. The back differs from the front (by design) so I will give you both lengths. The front in a medium is: 23.5" and the back is 26.5" Hope that helps you figure out if this is the jacket for you

I have a concern about the collar rubbing my chin when zipped up. One reviewer mentioned that issue. I also am confused about the sizing. I am 5'4, 120 lbs. with an athletic build and live in a warm climate so will not layer underneath often.

Asked by: THoliday
Hey there THoliday! Great question. There is no zipper garage on this jacket, so it is definitely more likely to rub your chin than a jacket with a zipper garage. There is a piece of material that covers the back of the zipper when it is zipped up, and that will offer a little more protection. Based on your height and weight, I would go with a size small. If that doesn't work out, here is our return/exchange policy: https://www.moosejaw.com/content/returns Hope that helps!

I'm looking for a lightweight waterproof jacket for runs in the rain. Ideally, light enough to run with a tank top under in the summer, or with a fleece underneath in the winter. Would you recommend this jacket for running?

Asked by: Luna12
Hey there, Luna! I wouldn't say the Beta would do poorly as a running jacket, but Arcteryx makes some great jackets specific for running. Check out the Norvan for example. For running you would want to look for jackets that have, at minimum, some pit zips or features that allow for some airflow during high activity. The problem with running in waterproof jackets is you generate so much heat and create a mini sauna inside your jacket. If you do not run too terribly hot, this jacket could feasibly serve the purpose. I would also worry that this jacket's hood might be a bit too bulky. If you *want* it to work as a running jacket, I feel you can do ANYTHING! But there are better options for you out there. You can always give us a call or hop on our chat and we can definitely help you get in a good running jacket.

How would this do for spring skiing?  Warm enough for chilly mountain breezes in the morning?

Asked by: Loulou
Hey Loulou! Great question. The Beta SL would be great for spring skiing if you plan on layering underneath for added warmth. Since it is designed as more of a water/wind shell, it would most likely require you to wear a base layer or two for those chilly mountain breezes. Hope this helps, and happy skiing!

Arc'teryx Warranty and Repair

Arc'teryx guarantees the quality and performance of all of their products. Items with defects in materials or workmanship will be replaced or repaired at the discretion of Arc'teryx for the practical lifetime of the product. Items that are damaged through wear and tear, misuse, or neglect may be repaired at a small charge.

How do I send back an item for Warranty, or get an item repaired by Arc'teryx?
For Customers in North America and Europe, Arc'teryx recommends that the product be returned to the store or site where it was originally purchased.

If this is not possible, fill out their online warranty form which can be found HERE. They will email you with full instructions on how to send your product to their Warranty and Repair Center. Do not send your item to them without first obtaining an RA number from Arc'teryx.

Arc'teryx is not responsible for items that are lost or damaged during shipping and cannot replace parcels that are lost during return shipment if proof of tracking is not available. Please use a guaranteed delivery service that provides tracking information, insurance, and proof of delivery when sending an item back to Arc'teryx.

For customs purposes, Arc'teryx requires you to provide them with a PHYSICAL address, however, your warranty/repair item can still be shipped to a PO Box.

How do I contact them with questions?
Complete their Warranty or Repair Request Form. If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach their Customer Service department at 1-866-458-2473.

What is and isn't covered under the Warranty Policy?
Defects in materials or workmanship are covered for the practical lifetime of the product. Material refers to zippers, buckles and fabrics. Workmanship refers to seams, seam tape and construction. Damage due to wear and tears such as rips, tears, abrasion or UV degradation, misuse or neglect is not covered under Arc'teryx's warranty policy but may be repairable for a fee.

What is covered under the Warranty Policy on Arc'teryx footwear?
Defects in material and workmanship will be covered by Arc'teryx for the practical lifetime of the product. The practical lifetime for footwear can vary drastically depending on the frequency and type of usage. Things such as the wearing of the outsole, frayed laces, nicks and tears can indicate that a shoe has surpassed its practical lifetime. These are examples of wear and tear or damage which are not covered by Arc'teryx. If you believe there is a defect in material or workmanship present on your product, please see follow the instructions on how to send it to Arc'teryx for assessment.

What does 'practical Lifetime of the product' mean?
Although Arc'teryx builds their products to last over extended periods of time, nothing lasts indefinitely. Materials will deteriorate and fade over time and moving parts will wear out. Arc'teryx will cover your product under their warranty policy until such a time that they have deemed the product to be worn out beyond reasonable repair. If the product is showing the signs of its age-for instance, the material has become thin or faded, there are rips and tears, the zippers no longer catch, the cuffs are fraying, or the soles are worn-they will take this into consideration when assessing your product for a warranty request. All gear will suffer from differing degrees of wear-and-tear, depending upon the user. Equipment used by an outdoor guide for 150 days a year will by comparison, degrade faster than gear used by a weekend skier. By taking care of your equipment you will ensure a longer lifetime for your gear. Arc'teryx recommends that you visit their Product Care page for more information on how to wash and care for your equipment.

Will Arc'teryx repair or replace my product?
If your Arc'teryx product fails due to a manufacturing defect, where possible, Arc'teryx will repair the item at no charge to you. They have repair centers in both Europe and North America that employ the same custom machinery and techniques that they use to create the original products. If the product is not repairable, or the cost of the repairs exceeds the value of the product, Arc'teryx may, at their discretion, choose to replace the product instead.

What happens if I rip or tear my jacket or pants?
Skis, snowboards, crampons, axes and other sharp equipment will damage clothing and gloves if they come into direct contact with them. Rips, tears, burns and punctures can occur during normal use and while carrying your equipment, and are not covered under the terms of the warranty. To assist you in keeping your product in optimal working condition, Arc'teryx offers a variety of repairs for a reasonable charge. Contact them and they will be happy to discuss your options.

What if I want to have my garment altered or tailored?
Arc'teryx does not offer custom alterations or modifications to their packs or garments at this time. For products made from GORE-TEX® fabrics they suggest using a GORE-TEX® authorized repair facility for alterations. There is a list of GORE-TEX® authorized repair shops in your area on the GORE-TEX® website.

Do alterations void my warranty?
Arc'teryx understands that individuals may, on occasion, wish to tailor their Arc'teryx products to suit their needs. If something should fail which is unrelated to any alterations, Arc'teryx will stand behind their products, provided that the Arc'teryx product is being used as intended. For a list of alteration facilities in your area, please visit the GORE-TEX® website.

How long will it take if I send my product in for warranty assessment and/or repair?
The typical turn-around time is 15 to 20 business days from the time they receive your product to the time they ship it back to you. Keep in mind that winter is the busiest season for warranty and repair service. Arc'teryx will provide you with updates and more accurate estimates throughout the process.

How do I prepare my item for return to Arc'teryx?
In order to comply with health and safety regulations, as well as for the protection of their staff, Arc'teryx kindly asks that all products be cleaned before being sent to them. Products that arrive unwashed may be subject to a cleaning fee before assessments can be made. To find out how to properly clean your garment, please visit the Arc'teryx Product Care page.

How are shipping costs handled?
Customers are responsible for shipping items to Arc'teryx, and Arc'teryx will cover the return shipping costs. Please ensure that you ship the product using a carrier that can provide you with tracking information and proof of delivery. Customers are responsible for their product until Arc'teryx has signed for its delivery.

What do repairs cost?
Repairs covered under the terms and conditions of the Arc'teryx warranty policy are performed at their expense. Costs for non-warranty repairs will vary depending upon the situation. Arc'teryx will provide you with as many repair options as possible based upon the amount of work and materials required and the expected end result. After your product has been received and assessed, Arc'teryx will be able to contact you with repair options and costs. Repairs requiring payment will never be performed without your authorization.

What is the Voltair Avalanche Airbag Limited Warranty?
The Voltair Airbag will be covered under warranty for manufacturing and material defects for the duration of three years after purchase or 50 inflations, whichever comes first.
