Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent fit and cushion. Perfect for running I was looking for a running shoe to replace my Torin plush. These are amazing. Worth every penny. My foot is held secure and I love the cushioning. There rocker shape is great at getting my momentum going!! I have truly loved how my foot feels after wearing these for a long day on my feet or a long run.. loove that they shortened the shoe laces. Thanks for listening. The only thing I wish they made was a black vortex I'm afraid these white ones will get dirty quickly. But I own a washing machine and I intend to use it. Ha... seriously buy these shoes if your feet are old like mine or you just enjoy a comfy shoe..I usually wear a 9.5 wide sneaker..I bought a 10 and they fit great. There is enough width in the toe box yet the shoe fits well thru the rest of my foot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect speed work shoe and beyond! I cannot recommend these shoes enough! They are absolutely perfect! They have the perfect amount of cushion combined with spring to give you amazing responsiveness, they feel as close to a carbon plated shoe as you can get without the carbon plate. I would run in them everyday, but I like to keep myself grounded and run on Provisions every day and save there for speed work and hill work days so I get an extra kick during hard workouts and then race in the Vanish Carbon. I cannot recommend this shoe enough!!! For me I had to size up half a size because my second toe is a little longer then my big toes and it was hitting the end of the shoes. But a half size up and they fit like a dream!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Shoe Is IT This shoe is fast! I'm not the fastest runner, but I'm training to get there. I have noticed an improvement in my faster workouts. They feel fast and my numbers tell me they are fast! I don't want to invest in carbon plates, so these are perfect. I'm also finding that the slim foot shape is perfect for my foot; esp for racing and on the trail side of things. I hope to see more models with the slim fit in the future!

After contacting me via the first review I left, Altra reconsidered their first warranty decision and agreed to replace the shoes. I could not be happier. It's a lot of money to pay and have a shoe last less than 3 months with light walking. Altra should review its manufacturing materials to ensure their shoes last. See my review from two weeks earlier for details of the issue I experienced.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I'm trying to love these I want to love these! I currently run in the escalante 2.5 which I love! (I bought 5 pairs when the 3 came out). I sized a half of a size up in the vanish. I've done 2 6 mile runs in them so far and my foot pad to my toes have went numb. I'm not sure the narrow toe box is going to work for me. This is concerning as it seems all the new models are going in that direction. Please remember the original toe box!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So glad I tried them! I've been alternating my Escalantes and Torins for years, they are my two tried and true. I wanted to spice up the routine a little, so thought I'd give these a try. I'm a middle of the pack runner, and so far, carbon plates do feel all that important to me, but I was curious about how these would be. They did feel so luxurious to run in! The high cushion, light weight and that tilt forward made for a very fun running experience. These are definitely going into the rotation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new everyday trainer! Perfect compliment to Vanish Carbon As an Altra Team brand ambassador, I received these shoes at a discount. My everyday trainers have been Altras for a couple years now- mostly recently the Provision 6 and Timp 3, and when the Vanish Tempos came out, I jumped at a chance for a carbon footplate shoe from Altra (I love them). So when these came out, I couldn't say no. They are lightweight and a lot of run to run in- lots of pep and forward thrust with the rocker. They seem to run a half size smaller than my Provision 6 or Timp 3, so I ended up running in a size 8.5 instead of an 8. But besides that sizing issue, these are out of the box incredibly comfortable. No break-in period needed. I was worried about the tongue- thinking the thin tongue would dig into the front of my ankle the way the Torin 5s did, but that wasn't a problem at all (phew!).
