I've been through a lot of shoes especially nike and i had to try the temp 4's because i have the lone peak 7's as well but i wanted cushion, these were the ones. I have a very wide flat foot and these shoes have been the best shoe for my feet, I have put about 300 miles on them right now and they are holding up very well, i do about everything in these shoes, if i had the money i would buy as many as i could!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the new Timp 4 I love the new shoes, improved cushioning makes it better for 73 year old class 4 arthritic knees, improved tread helps stability and climb, and the increased heal loop helps with inserting foot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Actually really like these shoes now after todays hike I was negative about these shoes at first, because the tongues slide towards the outside immediately and don't stay centered. But after walking in them for a week, and using them on a hike today with my family I really love them. I like the cushion they provide. Plenty of room for my toes to splay, my ankles have room to move and not be rubbed. I would but them again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Performance for Intended Purpose I wear this shoe as Altra designers intended: for mixed-surface, dry runs and it has not disappointed. I find the rubber to be well-suited for theses types of runs as it is not too-soft nor too hard. The mid-sole has enough cushion for my mid-length runs (13-18 miles) yet doesn't feel too cushioned for shorter runs. I haven't experienced significant midsole deterioration at 250 miles and feel confident I will get another 100 before they are retired. (Note that in order to optimize midsole performance, I rotate several pairs of shoes and give each pair at least 48 hours of midsole-rest between runs.) The uppers are still in good condition and only show normal wear-and-tear.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sidewall blow out Altra got the fit right on this one. Foot sinks right in; cushioning, height, and shoe box width make this model fit like a glove. Better than Lone Peaks, and certainly better than the Timp 3.0. But despite these shoes having 150 pretty easy miles on 'em, the sidewalls are blowing out. I thought it was just me until I saw others in the review section with the same issue in the same location on this model. Looks like a materials failure to me. Hopefully Altra developers will take notice for future versions. Don't change the architecture of the shoe: just the material. Thanks. See ya down the trail.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Durability is unacceptable I have been wearing Timps and Lone Peaks for many years now. They are very comfortable but the durability is unacceptable. I am wearing these shoes for hiking and backpacking. Time and time again these shoes blow out after around 100 miles. I understand trail runners aren't going to last forever when used for backpacking. I could accept 300 - 500 miles of wear but failing after 100 miles is unacceptable. To be clear, I'm not hiking off-trail or on talus or scree. I'm hiking typical trails that should not destroy well-built shoes. I contacted Altra, after my most recent pair of Timps developed holes where the mesh meets the toe guard. Rather than standing by their shoes they told me this is considered "normal wear and tear". I'm done.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good fit with some probelms i use my timp 4's for training and racing. this is my 2nd pair. 1st pair i bought in april 2022 and the 2nd on 11/6/ 2022. my suggestions- go back to the original foot shape as my new pair fell too tight in the toe box. also increase the toe box bumper as these shoes rip easily and my old pair have holes in the toes. also better padding in the heel as i wore a hole in the heel of the old shoes. the new timps have great traction and grip as i'm now running on icy and snowy trails. please send green patches for my green timps
