The North Face Men's Venture Jacket is a rain jacket for wet weather activities. The outdoors is wild, and bringing along a rain jacket on your next daring journey sounds like a great idea to me. The Venture combines durable nylon ripstop fabric with a HyVent 2.5 layer membrane to protect your body from the rain so you can continue enjoying your outdoor surroundings. I bet it'll even protect you if it's raining indoors, you never know what the plumbing may do. The HyVent membrane is breathable, preventing the sticky garbage bag feeling, but if you start to get even warmer, open the pit zips for faster venting. Pull the hood up and adjust it to your preference to protect the deluge of rain from ruining your hair and continue on with your adventure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All The Right Features I'm an avid hiker/climber living high in Colorado mountains where rain/wind shells are mandatory. I had several other name brand shells from major gear manufacturers that were badly worn and needed to be replaced. I kept looking for something that had: 1) Waterproof shell, 2) Windproof shell, 3) Adjustable hood, 4) Pit Zips, 5) Front Zipper, 6) Front Velcro, 7) Stow-able Pocket, 8) Fit right, 9) Was lightweight. After looking at all the major brands, the North Face Venture was the only shell I could find with all these features? Now that I've used the Venture Rain Shell in the field, I ordered two more. This is a bomb proof shell you cannot go wrong with.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great jacket, but lining peels I've owned two of these. In both cases the lining started peeling in the hood after about a year's use, and within a month had gotten real grotty. I'm not into having to buy a new one every year. Secondly, the earlier version of this the inside pocket netting extended down to the hem creating too large "bin" or "bucket" or "magazine" pockets - the main reason I bought the jacket, in the city these kind of pockets especially convenient for books and shopping In the current version, they took that extended netting out and you're left with only two hand-pockets. Other than that, the jacket looks great, the waterproof is great. Now if they reinstated the bucket pockets and fixed the peeling I'd be happy to buy another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket - packable into pouch I know lots of guys wear this for casual wear, and its nice enough to. But, I bought it because I needed a rain jacket!! ,,,,I took this for hiking in Glacier National Park. We had lots of rain and it kept my top half dry. It's just thick enough that you can use it as wind breaker depending on the temperature and what else you're wearing under it. The fit was nice, and it's really comfortable. It was breathable - not like the old garbage bag ponchos. ,,,,I don't think the description says so, but it stuffs and zips into it's own pocket, which is nice for back packing/hiking. ,,,,The only thing I wish it had were those cool thumb cuffs, but I knew what I was buying, so I can't count that against the jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket This jacket is great quality and fits perfectly. The reason I'm leaving a review is because of sizing questions I had before buying. I bought the regular and tall size. For scale, I'm 6'4", 210, and fit. When I wear dress shirts I wear a 36 neck, 36/37 sleeves. When I wear a regular shirt (polo, t-shirt, etc.) I wear a large. I got the large, and it fits like a glove. The regular size fits okay on my torso and the length is fine, but the sleeves were too short. The sleeves on the tall version come down to about mid-palm when the cuffs aren't tightened, but when you do tighten them you have plenty of space in your sleeves to move comfortably in all kinds of different motions. So if you're tall and have long arms like me, I'd get the tall version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from bomb dot com I purchased this in Vanadis Grey/TNF Black as a gift for my boyfriend. I love the blue accent for the logo. Sometimes The North Face product colors look completely different in person compared to online but it was true to the photo posted which made me happy. ,,I got him XL and he is 6'6 and weighs around 192 pounds. Since he is tall and slim I was afraid an XL would be too wide but it worked out great plus the bottom width is adjustable.,,,,He loves the jacket. It's light weight. He wears it as a windbreaker or a rain jacket depending on the weather and throws it on over a hoodie if it's a little chilly. It's pretty thin so you could throw it on even on a summer night. Looks sleek, happy with the purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From a 6'5" man, it actually lives up to 'Tall'. Finally TNF has a few jackets for us tall people. I am very happy with the fit-there's no excess mid-section fabric but the sleeves and waist actually fit as they should. As far as quality goes it's all there, and it's as good of a rain jacket as you'll find anywhere else. Do NOT buy this thinking it will double as a jacket to keep you warm though-I've made this mistake before. This is more of a shell, and is designed to keep you dry-not warm. But I'll throw on a sweater underneath, and wear it casually come spring. Great buy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Be warned small guys I just bought this jacket and really like it. This jacket is definitely meant to be worn with layers; it is very thin but very waterproof. It will probably not keep you warm except by being windproof. CONS: I have a really small stature and even the small is very loose and baggy. I'm 5'8 and 130 lbs and I really can't stand how loose the arms are on me. It looks awkward and unstylish in my opinion, even after layering. Still, however a very practical and effective rain jacket. 4 stars. I wish there was an XS.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor sizing. As for the performance of this jacket, I imagine the great reviews are accurate, however, as for the fit of this jacket, I was very unimpressed. TNF, for me at least, has always run slightly on the big side, but not enough to keep me from their jackets, of which I have a few. When I needed a quality rain jacket, I immediately went to the Venture and bought a small. I am 5'7", 140 lbs, and the small absolutely swallowed me, it fit more like a medium or large. I understand rain jackets are intentionally made to provide room for extra layers, but the Venture small is the largest "small" I've ever worn. Unfortunately, I had to return it, and opted for the more slim Mountain Hardwear Plasmic jacket.

Is the Venture jacket waterproof or not? Comparison with Resolve shows resolve is waterproof and Venture is not. Under features says that it is but not listed in specifications.

Asked by: gw99
Hiya gw99, thanks for your question! Both the Venture and the Resolve jacket are waterproof, however, there are a few differences between the two. The venture jacket has a nylon lining and the resolve has a mesh lining. The venture also has velcro at the cuffs of the sleeves and it has pit-zip vents. Hope this helps!

What are the care instructions for this jacket?

Asked by: Ryan
Hiya! Thanks for your question. The manufacturer recommends to wash it in cold water, separately on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and tumble drying on a low heat setting. You do want some heat in the dryer, as it reinvigorates the waterproofing. Hope this helps!

Hey, sorry if this was explained above but is this lined?

Asked by: Ricky2429
Hey Ricky Two Four Two Nine! No worries. The North Face Venture Jacket is not lined. It's just a shell-style rain jacket. The beauty of an unlined rain shell is that it can be worn over a tank top in the hottest of weather without making you melt, or it can be worn over a long sleeve shirt and sweater or hoody on a chilly, rainy night without adding bulk. Sweet!

Pockets?

Asked by: winders
The North Face Venture Jacket has two zippered hand pockets. The jacket can also be stuffed into one of the pockets for storage, which is a nice bonus.
