The whole thing packs into it's own pocket and weighs only 13.7 ounces, so right off the bat you don't have to think about whether or not you need to bring it. You just do. Clip it to your harness or stuff it into the top pocket of your backpack and it's ready when the dark clouds come rolling in. The H2No® Performance Standard 2.5 layer nylon ripstop shell combines with 2.5 layer stretch panels at the arms and shoulders to protect you from rain while allowing you to move with ease. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great brand, great product, kept me dry in flood conditions We've been having epic rains in Maryland this past week. I have 2 rain jackets-- one made by a well know local brand and my new Patagonia Stretch Torrentshell. The former sucked-- I got cold and the stuff in my pockets got wet. The Patagonia kept me and my stuff dry. Plus, it was warmer and more comfortable (love the subtle material placed behind the neck for comfort). The hood is the perfect size. And the jacket looks good and compacts nicely. The stretch feature is worth the extra $$$ over the regular Torrentshell. All in all, a great jacket. That local brand one? Yeah, it goes in the donation bin tomorrow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great waterproof mobility! I bought this torrentshell to cover all the duties I could use it for - hiking in a downpour, foul weather on the film set, walking the dog in a pour when my winter jacket shell would get soaked through... It's certainly waterproof but the selling point for me is the mobility it offers. Great if you need maneuverability, twisting turning sprinting lifting reaching. Doesn't feel constricting like some rain jackets. It also doesn't get heavy when wet, is super light and easily stowable. Fully adjustable everywhere. Looks good to boot. Really nothing to complain about - everything you'd expect from a good torrentshell plus the confidence to move around and the quality of Patagonia. Buy it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for around town! I bought this jacket a few months ago and it has been great as a casual rain jacket. I'm 6' 195 and the large fits pretty well. There isn't much room for layering, but then again I have broad shoulders which stretches the jacket out a little bit. Does a solid job of shielding rain and the hood is great (adjustable and sits/holds well even in the wind). Only drawback are the shallow hand pockets. I would definitely bring this on shorting hiking trips, but if you're going to run into any nasty weather be sure to get something a little more heavy duty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great rain jacket Pretty awesome rain jacket. I wear it almost all year long. It's great in the winter with some layers underneath. Love the pit zips in the summer when it gets super humid. The "stretch" feature could be a bit more stretchy and isn't what I'd really call stretch at all. The fit is perfect for a rain shell, I'm 5' 11'' 160 and the large is perfect for me. I guess the medium would work but there was no room for layers in the winter. The jacket also stuffs into its own pocket which is super handy to clip on a pack and go. Overall great jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't say enough about this jacket! I'm a huge Patagonia fan and have been buying their gear for years. This is my first rainjacket from them and I cannot give enough praise for this jacket. The first thing I noticed was how light it is compared to my other rain jacket (Stoic Vaporshell 3L). The second was how easily I can move in the's like it was made just for me. Everything looks to be top-notch quality, as I have come to expect from Patagonia. I have no doubts this jacket will serve me for many years.,,,,Incredible product, 10/10

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect I love this jacket, so I only gave it 4 stars because I haven't had it long enough. On the first couple of trips, in light rain, the DWR has worked flawlessly, with very good beading. I appreciate the hood adjustments and think they'll be very useful when I need them. Pit zips are nice and did well at ventilation and heat control during pre-race warm ups at state, but the jury's still out on breathablility. the cut is just about on with a medium, just below the hip, and just a tiny bit long arms, which is good (I am 5'8" and 140 lbs), with the chest just right. Arms seemed a bit too wide, but I know it'll be useful when I have more than a windbreaker underneath. Finally, the whole jacket gets five stars in quality and durability--the zippers are bulletproof, and while it can get a bit wrinkly in storage, it smooths out pretty fast and works well. Five stars once I have it longer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Haven't gotten wet yet! I bought this on a whim, needing a quality rain jacket. I had tried on other brands at a local store, but their Smalls were too small and their Mediums were too big. Patagonia's Medium fits perfect, even with room for a sweatshirt underneath. For reference I am 5' 6" and weigh around 140lbs. Also, I expected the fabric to be flimsy, but you can feel the quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very versatile jacket and a great value. I am very pleased with this jacket. I picked up the Viking Blue version and it is really cool color, nice and vibrant without being too bright. I am 5’8” and about 187lbs and I bought a large. It fits great over a light layer with plenty of mobility but not too baggy. I wore it over a light down jacket and it fit but was a little cramped in the armpit. I have pretty broad shoulders so I don’t know if that would be a problem for everyone. The hood can be cinched down so it stays in place and doesn’t blow away. Although I haven’t taken this jacket on any major adventures yet, it definitely handles the day to day wind and rain I have been exposing it to here in Michigan. I really like the added stretch in the back, having broad shoulders the extra flex is a bonus. So far this has kept me dry and warm in some pretty nasty conditions and with the right layering this jacket will get use year round. For me this was the perfect combination of features, style, and price.
