I don't know a lot about science and technology but I do know that things with "nano" in them are super techy and futuristic. Patagonia was spot on when they named their Men's Nano Puff Hoody. Techy and futuristic. This insulating layer utilizes compressible PrimaLoft® ONE to trap heat close to the body while not adding excess bulk. Synthetic insulation still functions even when wet making this a very useful layer in even the most severe conditions. The 100% recycled polyester shell can handle light moisture while blocking wind and can be layered effortlessly. Add into the equation the insulated hood and the fact the whole thing can stow into its own internal.... and you get the solution to your cold weather problems.

FEATURES of the Patagonia Men's Nano Puff Hoody

  • Lightweight ripstop recycled polyester shell fabric has a Deluge DWR finish
  • Lightweight 60-g PrimaLoft One insulation provides excellent warmth and compressibility
  • Brick quilting pattern with horizontal quilt lines on side panels uses durable thread for improved abrasion-resistance
  • Center-front zipper has wicking interior storm flap and zipper garage at chin for next-to-skin comfort
  • Two high-hand zippered pockets have clean finished zipper garages zippered internal chest pocket doubles as a self-stuff sack with a reinforced carabiner clip-in loop
  • Under-the-helmet hood construction is light and simple
  • Drawcord-adjustable drop tail hem seals out wind

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Worth it bought this a few weeks ago, proving itself to be an awesome jacket for all sorts of activities / Temperatures and of course for around town / casual as well. Packs down into an excellent nano-pillow for traveling purposes too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Day-to-Day Jacket So I own both this jacket, and the Nano-Air. The Nano-Puff is great day to day jacket as it is warm, extremely light, and durable. However, it does not stretch, and seems to stink after intense use, despite washing. Additionally, I have found it to feel rather clammy if I put it on when sweaty, such as I would with a belay jacket when I finish a climb. Nevertheless, it is a great jacket to wear to classes and over an R1 or other base layer. If you are looking for a true alpine piece, I would point you towards the Nano Air, which stretches and wicks better, but is less durable as its shell fabric tends to pill. I actually often use them in conjunction when I do not feel like lugging around a DAS parka since the Nano Puff is cut bigger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket!! I purchased this in a peppergrass green and absolutely love the color. I own many nano puff jackets and wear my black one most. However this green is a splendid color and with Spring here now I will be wearing it more. The women colors were not anything I was interested in so ordered a man's color. Fits fine!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great For Winter! I bought this a month ago and took it camping and snowshoeing in Yosemite. I did not take it off during the whole trip. It kept me warm all day especially during the freezing nights. And it's extremely light!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and crushes into ziplock bag for travel. This is my second extra lightweight jacket. The other is Northface. This fit is less boxy and more taped through waist. I ordered 3 colors to decide which I liked best. I did not keep the red because I didn't care for the black stitching which contrasted with red. I chose the blue as the stitching blended and it is a neutral blue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a great jacket but it didn't fit me well. I love Patagonia jackets. I figured ordering a large was a no brainer. I am 5'7 and weigh about 170lbs. Wear a size 42s jacket. The Nano Puff Jacket pulled in the arm pits. Everything else was fine, comfortable around the chest, sleeve length OK. I had the same problem with a number of large jackets lately. My old Patagonia large jackets fit well, I wonder if they are not cutting them tighter. Ended up with a similar Lands End jacket that did not pull. Otherwise this is a quality jacket, I wish it fit better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid choice I bought this a couple months ago to expand my ever-growing jacket repertoire. I own a MHW soft-shell and the Patagonia Down Sweater Hoodie, and this jacket is the perfect middle weight/warmth. I have found that this jacket is perfect for active use in weather between 25 and 40 degrees. Inactive use probably has a range between 35-50 degrees. With all of the stitching on this, if you expect any wind above 10 mph in temps below 30 degrees, I'd recommend supplementing with a wind breaker like a Patagonia Houdini. Not as breathable as the Rab Xenon or Arcteryx Atom LT, but perfect if you are looking for static warmth in a lightweight jacket. By way of sizing, I'm 5'9", 160 lbs, with a 30 inch waist - and the small fits me best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gift for Hubby My husband has been wanting one of these for a while. I came across Moosejaw and they had the best price and free shipping. He has worn it several times and seems to like it. It's nice that it is light and water resistant.

What's the temp. range for this jacket? What's the best usage? Looks & feels very thin to be warm. Tried on a friend's and nearly froze in low 50s with chilly wind. Must weight L/S shirt & at least midweight fleece/wool underneath!

Thanks for the question! The Nano Puff is a lightly insulated jacket. Unfortunately, Patagonia does not temperature rate their products. It is best used for Hiking, Skiing, Ice and Mixed Climbing, Climbing, Basecamp and Expedition. If you are looking for a more high energy usage item, then I would take a look at the Patagonia Men's Nano-Air Hoody. If you want something with a similar feel of the Nano Puff, then I would check out the Rab Men's Xenon X Hoodie. I included links below for both of my suggestions. Hope this helps!
