Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go to sun hat. Used this for a 4-5 day backpacking trip in 8000-10000 feet elevation at Red Mountain Basin in John Muir Wilderness. This hat got the highest overall rating on outdoor gear lab. I didn't use any sunscreen for 4-5 days, light weight, dries quickly, good in wind. I wish the brim was a little longer and the cape was a little bigger, but that isn't a big deal. My nose was a little red by the end of the trip. Another minor complain is the hat looks a little goofy and slightly expensive. I don't really care about these. I really like this hat and will use it for all hiking and backpacking I do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great replacement for my Sequel hat I've been wearing a Sequel discontinued product) hat similar to the sun runner. I's great sun protection and will keep your head cool. Now don't feel you are going to look geeky wearing this hat. When I first started wearing my Sequel hat some nerd came up to me and said, "That's the silliest hat I've ever seen." I said thank you. I do horseshow photography and spend a lot of time under the sun. As to how I look doesn't matter. It's the picture that counts. ,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just say no to skin cancer If you wear this you will look relatively stupid, but your neck will thank you. I always used to burn, no matter how much SPF 70 I'd slather on, but now that I hike in this my neck doesn't fry. The neck drape is light enough that my neck never felt hot or stuffy. With the cinch cord you can tighten it around the front to protect everything between your shirt collar and your chin as well. Most of the other sun hats I looked at didn't actually cover you as well as this one does. They may look less silly, but this one does the job better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Refreshing Hat I do not wear hats. I also do not like sunblock. What to do? Never step out of the house. Life was a dilemma. Then I came across this hat. Life outside in the sun seemed hopeful. As soon as I received the hat, I used it in the high Sierras and the sun's rays never penetrated my pores. My head was cool and I liked how the neck guard flapped with the wind; people must see me with my cool hat hiking in slow motion and they are just flabbergasted as their skin bakes in the sun. Get this hat. It prevents wrinkles and keeps you beautiful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall, sweet product! Don't know why I bought this in the middle of winter. Looking ahead I guess 'cause they always sell out.....anyway, this is a great product with a great fit. I did an adventure race in Colorado last summer and hung out at 10,000+ feet for 12 or so hours. When all was said and done, I looked like a redneck from the state of Oklahoma. (Oh wait, I AM from Oklahoma). Anyway, this hat's super at keeping the neck area protected. But with the different positions you can put the back flap in, it doesn't totally suffocate you either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing quite like it on the market- OR quality!! I've been using this cap for a good time now, and it's been holding up quite well to all sort of abuses in expedition environments (approach to base camp Aconcagua), as well as during ski touring sunny days. With the sun protection it provides I can skip on smothering myself with sunscreen (except my nose). Fit is excellent. My only beef is the "visor" (for lack of better term) could have been a little longer (1-2cm), but certainly not a reason not to buy this product again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good hat good summer hat with vents on the side, the obvious reason to by this is the sun protection for back of your neck, which works well. I do wish they had a different clasp system for the front drawstring cord. While the entire hood can be detached, when the hood is attached, the drawstring does not detach which makes it a bit awkward to put on and take off, but once it's on it's fine. comfortable and good sun protection

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get it, you won't go back to the floppy wide brim sun hats. This is my second sun runner cap. I bought a new one immediately after I lost my previous one. This is the best hat that I've found for keeping the sun off your face and head; full coverage of the sides and back, including the neck. The sand color is light and keeps your head cool. I even wear it under a helmet comfortably. The only downside is that you look a little goofy.

Does it cover your nose from the sun?

Asked by: Linda
Thanks for the question! The brim is long enough to cover your nose, however you do have to factor in the direction of the sun and also the length of your nose. If you cinch the chin-cord of the cape, that will cover your neck and will create additional shade around your face. I would still use sunscreen for protection. Hope this helps a little!
