Without question, the Turbo Express Ice Screws by Black Diamond are the easiest and fastest placing ice screws to ever sink their way into ice. This year we improved our renowned Express by redesigning the tooth geometry for easier starts, adding larger crank knobs that are easier to grab and augmenting the hanger with a second clip-in point for belay organization. Quick to bite and easy to crank in, the Express screw features a tapered tube where the teeth cut a hole just larger than the tube itself, for less friction and faster placements. The foldable speed-drive knob is color-coded for quick length identification and offers uninterrupted 360-degree motion. New stainless steel hangers are lighter than previous models, won't rust and reduce melt-out on sunny routes. The Express is built in five lengths to accommodate a variety of ice conditions. All sizes of screws are now CE-certified. Patented.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a hot butter knife These screws are the best out there, simply put! They rack cleanly, start easily, and are fast to place. The turbo knob is fast and easy to use with gloves. I have not had problems with melt out. I really like the dual clipping holes, they make belays clean and are great for hanging packs or gear loops. I like the size range and have all as part of my kit. Climbing in the mid atlantic requires trusting gear in marginal ice and I don't hesitate to use the 10's and 13's. Right now my kit is 1x22 (for v-threads), 4x19's for belays, 8x16's, 4x13's, and 3x10's ..... Pretty much get me up anything other than a super long thin pitch. ,,,,Bottom line, best out there....get 'em!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great screw! The best ice screw out there in my opinion for climbing waterfall ice. They rack nicely, hold their sharpness, clear ice well, easy to start and screw in easy. The steel is more durable than the lighter weight aluminum options, which are better suited for alpine in my opinion. I've never had binding issues with these like I have some other screws. The double hanger is great and I believe it makes the screwing process easier by allowing you to generate greater torque since the knob is farther from the screw axis. The color coded knobs makes selection easy. The 13's and 16's are the workhorses of my rack with some 19's for belays, a 22 for v-threads and a couple 10's for the thinner stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE BEST! Having tried every ice screw available, I can confidently say that Black Diamond Express Screws are the best that money can buy. These screws exemplify design perfection in every way. They rack discretely and lay flat, are extremely easy to start, are color-coded by size, feature an insanely awesome, foldable, easy-to-use crank knob, and have 2 clip in points for endless versatility. All of this on top of a competitive price and the trusted Black Diamond name. Needless to say, all 5 sizes of these screws are indispensable to my ice rack. Look no further, these screws rock!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality and lightweight Construction of these were very good (aren't all ice screws like this anyway? -I don't own that many).,,,,The express handle has a nice positive action to it. I got the 19cm length to provide a more solid anchor.,,,,I think BD stuff is always good quality, and most importantly on their protection gear. Really can't be would have to worry about quality of protection equipment if there were actually manufacturing flaws.,,,,Two thumbs up for these. I'll buy more when I have more discretionary spending :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best screw out there. (Well, for ice anyways) Black Diamond sets the standard with the Turbo Express. The teeth bite quickly in water and alpine ice, and the can-opener style handle allows the placement to be finished rapidly so you can move on to the next. ,,,,The new style has two biner holes, so you have extra room at those anchors for gear, or whatever else you'd like to clip into them. ,,,,I highly recommend adding an ice clipper (BD or Petzl) to your harness for racking, they make rapid placement a lot easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The go to pro This is a great product. Lightweight, good strength rating and really thoughtful design for ease of use and flexibility. Two clipping points can help with anchor placements and the retractable handle helps for easy placement once started. Color co-ordination also helps to boot with racking. If looked after and kept nice and sharp these screws with a modified teeth design are about as good as it gets with placing one handed. The bite is phenomenal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from you won't get screwed with these ones! absolutely amazing, although on the expensive site. but the few bucks, you will love the handle to screw it fast fast fast, when you really need it in some 90° ice... We had them in Austria in comparison with others without the handle, and we very quickly sorted the others out... the poor ones :) because these BD babies are just the dream for any ice. For a gift, you can't make anything more right than buy these ones for someone you love...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly sharp and easy to use I took these ice climbing in Adirondack Park. They're amazingly sharp and nearly glide into the ice. The pull-out thumb-screw things are very convenient and usable with gloves on. They took a beating from from the ice tool hammer to get past some ice, without any problems. And they clean nicely. Everything you could want for ice climbing....
