The Ahnu Women's Sugarpine Waterproof Boot is a waterproof mid hiking shoe for hitting the trails, day or night. Ahnu's very own waterproof/breathable technology keeps the wet out and the toes dry, so damp, muddy trails won't be a bother and a little rain won't hurt either. The mesh, leather, and suede upper holds up against abrasion and dirt, and a gusseted tongue keeps debris out. Down at the bottom you'll find a Vibram® outsole with grippy, self-cleaning lugs that will bite into the pathways to propel you forward with ease. Hidden at the insole is an integrated nylon shank and a shock dispersal plate for plenty of support and protection against bumpy, less than perfect trail conditions. With added support at the ankle, this mid will see you through many miles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible from Day One I took these boots to Ireland without much break in. They were a dream! We were doing a couple 2 hour hikes a day in uneven terrain, plus lots of mud, puddles, rain, wind and cold. Even with all these things, they were like wearing tennis shoes in dry weather. I felt invincible. I don't even want to think about how miserable I would have been without them. I have high arches and for most shoes I have to use a slip in support. Amazingly, not with these! They were comfortable from the moment I put them on my feet. I'm an 8.5, but I ordered a 9 and it was perfect. I NEVER love shoes this much because my feet are so picky. But I love these so much!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boots for walks less than 10 miles I bought these boots to wear on the 96 mile West Highland Way in Scotland. I wore them for over a year on short hikes and absolutely loved them. They needed no break-in. They are exceptionally light and comfortable and very grippy on slabs of rock. My only negative is that on this particular hike, with a lot of rough Stoney gravel and small rocks to walk over, the soles of my feet were very sore after a 13 -15 mile walk. I could feel all the stones underneath even though I am carrying only a light daypack. I might buy the next one up, the Montara, in hopes that it will provide more stiff cushion for the soles of the feet. Great ankle support, though!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product! I bought this product to do a Rim to Rim at the Grand Canyon in summer over 2 days with a 40 lb pack. I did one of those things they tell you never to do, which was to break in the boot. Even not breaking the boots in more than 2 hours, my feet were great 26 miles later. The boots were flexible enough to be super comfortable to hike in, but provide substantial ankle protection and be VERY lightweight. I've since used them in the Argentine Andes where they are a pleasure to be in all day for work. This is an outstanding, durable, comfortable, lightweight and versatile product--my go-to for this type of boot in the future!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love, love, love my Sugarpine boots. They pinched my ankles at first. But I had read a review before ordering and someone else had the same problems and it resolved. So I hung in there and I'm glad I did. They are most comfortable now. I hike every day year round. The pleasant surprise for me is that I can use these boots for all seasons. Lightweight in the summer/fall and especially good traction for ice and snow. I have always had to change boots. Not anymore. I do have high arches, and I use inserts for all my shoes. These boots are above average for support which makes them quite comfortable, although I still use my supports. They are very well made. The colors were a bit paler than I had imagined, but I really don't care.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Highly Recommend I had owned a pair of Ahnu's before, and they were stolen from me... So, I knew I would not be dissapointed when I upgraded to the Sugarpine Boot. This boot is perfect for someone who hikes frequently, and I would trust them on almost any terrain 100%. A pleasre to wear and very nice looking. I love the color I purchased (brown with mint green accent). When I wear them, I get that "new pair of shoes" excitement and confidence every time. I can tell that they will not wear out quickly even with frequent use. I would recommend this brand to anyone who wants quailty and performance, definitely worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On the Trail Again I've put in a full season in these boots - from late winter, spring, summer and fall. While they are a bit warm in the summer it doesn't matter because the stability and comfort more than make up for that one drawback. I have put on hundreds of miles in these shoes and they will last for another season but I am ordering a second pair in a second color just because I don't want to ever be without a pair. I have a renewed love of hiking because of these boots. I have had both knees and both hips replaced over the last several years but I've never been stronger than I am today at age 67. Thank you Ahnu!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatly exceeded my expectations! I bought these in June this year and I can safely say that I have put enough miles on them to do a very accurate review. I walked about 5 miles on the road to break them (very minuscule breaking-in) before their first backpacking trip in the Porcupine Mountains. After the first 10 mile day, my feet were the only part of my body that wasn't sore. We walked through streams, mud, and slippery rocks and they held up AMAZING! They truly are waterproof. I also did a 25 mile backpacking trip on Isle Royale with them and 3 weeks in Indonesia and Malaysia climbing mountains. I have never once had a single complaint about these boots. If you are looking for hiking boots, stop here. These boots are the BEST!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best hiking boots I've ever owned Just got back from my first trip with the boots and I couldn't be happier with them! After walking through rivers, swamps, and rocks for nearly ten miles the first day, my feet were dry and felt fine! I bought the size I always wear and they felt perfect. I only wore them for about 5 miles on light walks to break them in. I was a little concerned that they were rubbing my ankle bone when I was breaking them in but it wasn't an issue at all! If you are looking for boots for hiking in rough, wet, difficult terrains, stop here! These boots are awesome!

I have trouble finding a good hiking boot/shoe for my narrow foot. I wear a size 7. Recommendations?

Asked by: kat003
Hiya kat003, thanks for your question! The Sugarpine Boot is a good option for narrow feet because they have been known to run on the narrow side but are true to length. Here are a couple suggestions of boots that are available in specifically narrow sizes: Lowa Women's Renegade GTX Mid Boot http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Lowa-Women-s-Renegade-GTX-Mid-Boot_10216429_10208_10000001_-1_ Vasque Women's Breeze 2.0 GTX Boot http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Vasque-Women-s-Breeze-2-0-GTX-Boot_10213228_10208_10000001_-1_ Hope this helps!

How do these boots hold up with colder weather hiking? Warm enough?

Asked by: Hmurphy1
Hiya Hmurphy1, thanks for your question! This boot is designed to keep your foot dry but not necessarily warm. I would check out the Ahnu Women's Sugar Peak Insulated Waterproof Boot instead. I need a hiking boot that measures5.5 inches from arch to top because of weak ankles & I need the boot to be well cushioned in the ankle area. The specifications only say "ankle" -- I don't know what that meanst. Will the boots support my ankles? Thanx

Asked by: frizzie
Hiya frizzie, thanks for your question! This boot measures 6 inches tall. It actually hits above the ankle and provides great support to the ankle and arch. Sorry for the confusion! I just happened to try on this boot today... for science! (Kidding... I just love trying things on.) It is stiff at the top but very comfortable and it fit true-to-size. Hope this helps!

Hi I read a review on another site that stated these would not recommend these for warm weather hiking.  Seeing that it says the boot is breathable and others using them in heat I'm not sure what to believe.  Are these ok for summer hikes?

Asked by: ADK hiker
Hey ADK hiker, Thanks for your question. These can definitely be worn in the summer. I'd pair them with a great light, wool hiking sock and you should be good to go. Gore-tex material can inhibit the breathability of a shoe, but these aren't Gore-tex and have a nice mesh upper so your feet shouldn't overheat. I've had my eye on these for awhile, personally, and think they will keep you looking stylish even on the trail. I hope this helps :)

Hi, do you deliver them to australia? My size here is 8 but 8.5 is OK or even 9 what are your sizes us or uk? What size should I order? thank you

Asked by: Barbara
Heyo! Thanks for asking such a rad question. We can definitely ship these to Australia for you. The US and AU follow the same sizing, so nothing is going to change there. These shoes fit true to size, so if you're going to be hiking or wearing big socks, I would suggest a half size up. Hope this helps!

Wide feet--does these work?

Asked by: Firemoneky
Howdy! I did some investigating and I've read some reviews that these shoes run true to size, but some folks with wider feet found that they fit just fine. That said, everyone's foot is different, so it is probably worth trying these babies on. No worries if you can't find them to try on locally - we have a great return policy for exchanges on footwear. You can try on (indoors) as many pairs as you'd like until you find the perfect fit for you. You can find out more about our return and exchange policy at Moosejaw.com/Returns.

HOW to MEASURE
If you are unsure which shoe size to purchase, please follow the following steps:

1. Draw a straight line, longer than your foot, on a piece of paper.

2. Place the paper on a flat surface. Stand on the line with your heel and longest toe centered on the line. If measuring a child's foot, it may be easier to hold the paper up to their foot.

3. Place a mark on the line at the tip of the longest toe and at the back of the heel.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 for the other foot.

5. Measure the distance between the marks. Taking the larger of the two measurements, use the conversion chart to find your correct shoe size.
